God is not who you think
God is not a theory or a concept. He is a personal being that wants to be in contact with you. He is your Father.
How distant we remain from our Creator because we've identified Him as something other than Father. And what have you allowed to keep you from experiencing His love for you? When you are unsure about His good nature, it will keep you distant from Him. But when you realize "How precious are your thoughts toward me, O God! How great is the sum of them!", it causes you to draw near to Him.
He is there to meet your needs! You can't get forgiveness from an abstract concept. You only obtain it when someone is willing to dismiss what you've done. And that comes from to you from a personal loving Father.
The reality of God is not limited by our perceptions. But our experience of Him is hindered by our preconceptions. The truth is that we can know Him accurately when we lay aside our notions of Him because He is an exact reflection of His Son Jesus.
