Discontentment is covetousness in disguise. Often our desire for a different situation is the result of feelings of self-inadequacy. We can guard against this by knowing that God loves us before we love Him. His love is toward us before we accomplish anything significant. When speaking of Jesus, the Father said, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well-pleased." That was before Jesus had done any great works or miracles.
Don't let the temptation of discontentment lead you to selfish ambition, which James says is earthly, sensual, & demonic. Make this determination: it is much better to trust the Lord & His direction than to be wise in your own eyes. 2Thessalonians 10-11 shows that when we do not receive the love of truth, we become victims of strong delusions.
Lamentations 3:19-28 says, "I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness & the gall. I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this will I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for Him.' The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; for it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.(NIV)
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke [of disciplinary dealings] in his youth. Let him sit alone uncomplaining and silent in hope, because God has laid the yoke upon him [for his benefit]."(Amplified)
You are in a place of divine providence where you can aggresively declare it is for your benefit. Romans 9:33 says the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame! The cross-reference from Isaiah 28:16 says you will not give way or make haste [in sudden panic]. And 1Peter 2:6 refers to the same text declaring "he that believes on Him shall not be confounded." Take that!
