Proverbs 14:12 - "There is a way that seems right to a man but the end there of is death." And what way is that? It is the way of human understanding. It is the voice of natural rationalization. It is the guide of self-justification. It is the pride of life.
Mankind travels through life without the conscious realization they are doomed using the basis of their understanding as their resource. Man has become so accomplished in his "way" that even when the Almighty speaks, our hearts are too dull to listen to Him. - All the while, we feel we are preserving the highest ideal, when we are unknowingly reserving the heaviest judgement upon ourselves.
