We celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner
at a local restaurant.
I love this photo - I don't know what was just said,
but the love and laughter is pretty infectious.
My sister made this wonderful cake for the occasion,
which was much appreciated by Mum, who always made the most wonderful cakes herself.
And we all got together for a family pic, all the more precious
now that Mum and Dad are no longer with us.
Back: Russell and my sister, Barb; my brother Bob and Carol; my hubby, Sam.
Front: Piet and my sister Rhonda; Mum, Dad, and myself.
TO MY PARENTS:
I owe you both the fondest love
That any ever had.
You've always been beside me here
You've cheered me when I'm sad.
In joy and sorrow, love and fear
You've been here at my side.
Your gentle love and guidance wise,
Your spark of family pride.
What pain and sorrow have I caused
You both have had to bear.
But you have never faltered:
You always have been there.
I cannot say in words to you
The feelings in my heart.
There are no words that mean enough
To even let me start.
But let me give this verse to you:
The two I love so dear.
I thank you for your gift of life;
For always being near.

This photo was taken around the time of their wedding.
Dad was very dashing in his Air Force uniform,
and Mum, as always, was immaculate and gorgeous.
Here's 3 generations - Mum with Sharna and I
at Sharna's Namegiving
And here's Dad with Renee when she was really little.
I really love this photo.
