Washington DC Tournament Report

Here is the report on the tournament that took me away from the regular Saturday Glen Burnie play back on December 7, 2002. As you can see I might have been better off staying in Beautiful Downtown Glen Burnie. The guys in DC abhore winnie decks. They went out of their way (cross table, backwards, any way imaginable) to put the kabash on me...and I didn't even consider it a winnie deck....heck I had some five-caps in the mix. ;D

OK, at long last, here's the report. It's been long enough since the event now that unfortunately (or fortunately, if you don't like blow-by-blow game accounts) I probably can't do an accurate retelling of most of the games I played.

Thirteen players showed up at Dream Wizards on Saturday December 7th to play in this constructed VTES tournament. I briefly considered playing a deck that I thought was less bad (Daughters of Cacophony vote/bleed) but instead played the one that I thought was more bad (and more funny): Salubri Antitribu vote, a deck designed by Ian Lee for the fall Storyline tournaments but that he didn't actually get around to playing in them.

Four players dropped out after the second round, wanting to go do other stuff, leaving us with nine for the third round, which meant I spent a while trying to reshuffle seating for a decent arrangement, but it wasn't otherwise a problem. That's what the DQs are doing in the standings list - no one was actually disqualified for any game-related infractions.

The final standings were:

Congratulations to Trey on his win! And thanks to everyone for coming out for the tournament.

Here's Trey's winning decklist:

Name: Nikolas's Crew
Creator: tmorita

Description: Get Nikolaus. Use his special plus 4th Tradition to bring out more Nossies. Most people won't bother blocking a few bleeds for 1 per turn, and combine that with a KRC or Parity Shift every turn or so for ousting power. Decent combat, but no grapples.
