Buttermilk Custard Pie

2 C buttermilk
¼ C butter
1 C sugar
3 T flour
3 eggs

Mix flour and sugar together. Beat yolks light, add sugar. Add to buttermilk. Melt and add butter. Beat whites stiff. Fold into mixture. Pour into 2 9” pie crusts and bake until the crust is brown and the filling firm – 30 min.

Crust for 1 pie

1 C flour
½ t salt
1/3 C shortening or lard
3T iced water
