People
Mood:  down
I realized a long time ago that while I wasn't a big fan of poetry, there were several verses that I seemed to take to heart. My favorite has to be "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. I have since realized that many times I have come to that place where the two roads diverged, but didn't realize it. I fashion myself a modern-day George Bailey. I can even relate just about every scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" to something that has happened to me. (Except for the standing on the bridge and saving someone's life part.) I guess as we age we look back and say "Gee, I wish I did that, or took that job, or asked her out to my prom." But, knowing how way leads on to way, I guess I can't go back.

I was never quite sure about being a father, but now that I have 3 sons, I can't imagine not having that joy. The pride that I have, I cannot express. The love is also immesurable. For someone who has never had the pleasure, there really is such a thing as unconditional love.

When I look at the world today and see how rotten and shallow and selfish people can be, it saddens me. I think if I hear of another "celebrity" trial, I might just throw out all my TV's and radios. Did people really spend days, weeks, and months camped outside of a court house to support someone who they think can dance and sing well? I just hope that I am providing my children with the ability to recognize what is right and what is important.

To all my fellow dads out there, Happy Father's Day.
