Rooftop Romance

Mark went up to Rianna’s apartment and knocked on the door. Selena knew that her mother was expecting him, so she opened the door. He looked down at her and smiled.

“Selena, right?” He asked. She nodded her head in complete awe at his height and build. She moved aside and let him in, shutting the door behind him.

“You really are Riddick.” She said. He had to laugh. Riddick was a character he played several years before.

“Yeah, you’re right. But that was only in the movie. My real name’s Mark. That’s what you can call me.” He knelt down to her level and held out his hand. She slapped it, then held out her hand. He slapped it back, except much softer than she did to him. She smiled, he was friendly and she liked him.

“I’ll go get Momma.” She ran down the hall and into Rianna’s bedroom. Angelina was peeking at him through a crack in the door of Selena’s bedroom. He saw her and gave her a smile. She cracked the door open a little more and smiled back. Mark, still kneeling, saw a pair of legs in front of his face. He stood up slowly, taking in the vision. Rianna stood before him wearing a simple black dress that only reached her lower thigh. It was sleeveless and complimented her bust. Her long hair was tied back into a dignified bun. She was truly a sight for sore eyes.

“You look breathtaking.” He told her. She blushed and turned away. Aimee came out of the kitchen to look at the couple.

“Oh, Mark, I didn’t introduce you to the others. You already met my little girl, Selena. This is my niece, Angelina. And this is a friend of mine, Aimee. Aimee smiled and waved.

“You can call my cell if something goes wrong, ok?” Rianna told Aimee. Aimee threw her hand up, nothing ever went wrong. Angelina and Selena were angels and never caused any trouble. Rianna kissed the girls goodbye and left with her date.

He drove her to Manhattan, where he lived. She couldn’t believe he came all that way just to pick her up. They stopped in front of a tall building, looking something like a fancy hotel. He gave the keys of his Escalade to the valet. Then he led her into the building.

They got on the elevator and Mark used a key to allow them access to the top floor. She wasn’t quite sure what was on the top floor, but she was eager to find out. It was his home. The lights were dimmed and a fire was lit.

“Welcome to my place.” He said, taking her coat and hanging it on the coat rack next to his. He then took her hand and led her around the place.

“This is the kitchen. And this is the dining room. Over there, that’s the living room.” He took her into the back and showed her each individual room.

“This is kind of like my work area. I write in here, sometimes I paint. And a lot of times I just sit back and read. This room over here is the guest room. There’s another over here. And this... this is my bedroom.” He opened the door to a dark room. He switched the light on and it was obvious he was a bachelor. It reminded her of how masculine Nick’s room was before they married. Except Mark’s was more aggressive. Darker colors. Black sheets and curtains.

He continued to show her around the many rooms of the penthouse apartment. Even the outside. There was a Jacuzzi tub and lots of chairs around it. There was a bird’s eye view of the city too. Rianna was overwhelmed.

“Come on, let’s get something to eat.” He took her hand again and they went into the dining room. He pulled her seat out for her and she sat down. Then he went into the kitchen. He returned with a covered platter and sat it down on the table. He uncovered it and it was a whole backed chicken with trimmings. He brought out the side dishes as well.

“It looks delicious. You cooked this?” He sat down himself.

“Yeah. It was my first try too, so if it’s disgusting, lie to me.” She cut some of the chicken and tasted it. It was juicy and tender, just right.

“It’s great, Mark. I love it.” She ate more and smiled.

“I’m glad you do.” He hardly eat anything, but enjoyed watching her. She looked at him across the table.

“You’re haven’t touched your food.” She noted.

“I’m waiting for desert.” He said. Her eyebrows raised. She couldn’t wait to see what he had in store. He took their plates and went into the kitchen. When he came back, he told her to close her eyes. She did.

Rianna suddenly felt something cool touch her lips. She licked them and tasted a sweetness. She felt it again, and this time she opened her mouth. Mark fed her his secret.

“Mmm, that’s good.” She opened her eyes. He had dipped a ripe, red strawberry in chilled champagne. She took one of the strawberries and dipped in the drink as well. She touched Mark’s lips with it, then fed it to him. He took her hand, and kissed the remaining champagne from her fingertips. Rianna felt her heart race. She hadn’t felt that way since Nick, and she liked it.

He leaned in closer and kissed her. First an innocent kiss. Then a deep one. She welcomed his tongue into her mouth. She dropped the stem of the strawberry and held his neck. Suddenly, he pulled away.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, her hand still on his neck.

“I told myself I’d take things slow with you. But already, the only thing on my mind is getting you into bed.” She respected his honesty.

“It’s ok. Let’s go get some fresh air, let these hormones cool off.” He agreed and they went outside. Rianna looked over the edge at the city lights. They were so high up that the city seemed silent. She loved the view and it got her mind off of the sexual tension.

Mark looked down at her. Her soft skin and silky hair. He wanted to take it out and let it fall so that he could run his fingers through it. He wanted to kiss her again. He wanted to touch her, caress her. But he held back.

Rianna looked up at Mark when he turned away. She admired his lips. They looked as if they were designed to kiss perfectly. She loved the way they felt on hers. She looked at his hands. They were big, strong hands. She wanted him to touch her so badly that it hurt. She wanted to feel his hands roam over her body.

“Oh God, I’ve known this man for 2 days and I’m fantasizing.” She said to herself. She tried to focus on the view again. She had to stop thinking of him in such a way. Had Nick neglected her that much? She had never been so frustrated over a man in all of her life.

It got cold. She shivered a little and Mark felt her doing so. He rubbed her bare arms with his warm hands. Rianna sighed. He was touching her and it felt so very good. Now that she got a taste of his touch, she wanted more. She needed more.

“Let’s go inside.” He suggested. They did and sat by the fire. He lifted her legs onto his lap. He took her shoes off, first the left, then the right. She wiggled her toes. Her toenails were all painted black.

“Well, you just match from head to toe, don’t you?” He said, massaging her feet. Ar first he stayed below her silver anklet. But his hands wandered to her lower legs, then her shins. He then went to her knees, then her thighs. Inching her dress up every chance he got. He was highly aroused by just touching her. Rianna was a walking aphrodisiac. He managed to get one hand all the way to her hip. There he stayed, not daring to do more.

Rianna just tossed her head back. She was biting her lip, and her breathing was labored. He kissed her exposed neck. Working his way up to her lips. They were kissing again, with more aggression than before. He couldn’t control himself. His hand moved from her hip to her navel, then down again. Rianna felt what he was doing and broke the kiss. He quickly removed his hand from under her dress.

“We can’t do this. It’s not right. It’s too soon.” She said, still breathing heavily. He knew that she was absolutely right. Even though he wanted so much to take her to his bed and have her stay the night, they had only known each other for two days! To do anything more would just be breaking the rules.

She looked at his watch and stood up, slipping her feet back into her shoes. She straightened her dress out as well.

“I should be getting home. The girls will worry.” He looked at his watch as well. It was close to 11:45, they would never make it before midnight. He got her coat for her and they left.

The whole ride home, the two stayed silent. Rianna was worried that hearing his voice would frustrate her. It was so deep and sexy. He started to hum along with the radio, and Rianna thought she would faint.

Rianna opened the door to her apartment and they both stepped in. She peeked in on the girls and they were both sleeping. Aimee was in her room watching TV. She turned back to Mark.

“Well, I guess this is goodnight.” She said. He held her hand and looked into her eyes.

“Would I be asking to much if I wanted to call you when I got home?” She looked at the clock on the wall.

“No, you can call. I don’t have to work tomorrow, we can talk all night if you want.” She loved the fact that she would be able to stay up all night and talk to him.

“Well, since you’re off tomorrow, would it be alright if I came over?” His second request was a little too much.

“I don’t think so. We just can’t seem to keep our hands off of each other. I don’t want what happened earlier to happen with the girls in the house.” Mark remembered her daughter and her niece.

“Rianna, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. You have me all strung out. I mean, as soon as I get home I have to relieve all this tension built up inside me.” He made quotation marks with his fingers for the word ‘relieve’. She knew exactly what he meant. She wanted to help him “relieve” that tension, but it was just out of the question.

“But you know what? That’s what makes it fun. We’ll just have to see how long we can go on this way before we can’t take it any longer and just tear each others' clothes off.” They laughed quietly, careful not to wake anyone. Then they got silent, looking at each other.

“I’m gonna be thinking about you all night.” He whispered.

“As I will you.” She replied. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her goodnight. Rianna could feel all that tension he mentioned pressing into her hip. Then she could feel his hands lowering to her backside.

“Ok big guy. Enough. Go home.” She said jokingly. He let her go and saw himself out. Rianna locked the door and turned to go to her room.
