Country Mansion in Georgia
Rianna and Mark were walking with Selena in the park when the subject of their relationship surfaced. The found a bench and sat down, watching Selena play around with the other children. He held her hand and kissed her on the cheek. Whenever he did that, Rianna knew he was going to ask her something, and was afraid of what her answer might be.
“We’ve been going out for about six months. I know in most cases, that’s not very long. But Rianna, you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me. You and Selena. You keep me grounded. You inspire me. And you love me. I’ve never really had that. I’ve never really allowed myself to get into serious relationships. But now I’m in one with you, and I couldn’t be more happy.” She smiled and placed her warm hand on the side of his face.
“I want us to move in together. Before you say anything, hear me out. When I’m with you, my heart feels so full. But when I go home, and I’m alone, I count the hours ‘til I see you again... ‘til I can hold you again. I’ve been thinking about this, and I really think you and Selena should live with me. So, what do you say?” Rianna looked up at the sky, then at her daughter. Then she looked at Mark. They had so much in common. And she was sure that Mark would never cheat on her, because he never even looked at other women. He worshipped her, and treasured her. She didn't know if she was ever going to find another man like that ever. And here he was, wanting to make a commitment.
“I want to make sure Selena’s comfortable with it first. And if she is, yes, I would love to move in with you.” Mark smiled, then looked down, still holding her hand.
“Oh no, what aren’t you telling me?” She knew his behavior and by the way he hung his head, he was going to ask her something else.
“Well, see... I’ve been thinking about something else. See, my place isn’t fit for a child. It’s my bachelor pad, you know? Well, it was. I want to move. Out of state.” Rianna looked at him as if he were crazy.
“Move out of New York? To where?” She asked, lines forming between her eyes.
“Georgia.” She got up from the bench when she heard him say Georgia.
“Mark!” She whined.
“Hey Sel, come here for a sec sweetie.” Selena threw the ball to one of the other children and ran to Mark as she was told to do.
“Now, your mother and I are having a hard time making a decision. And I think you can help. See, there is this big house far away from here that I want to move into. And I want to take you and your mother with me. There’s a lot of space for you to play. And a pool. And you get to have your own bathroom inside your bedroom, like Mommy does. It’s warmer there, and you’d be closer to your Dad, your Aunt Marcy, Uncle AJ, Angelina too! What do you say to that?” Selena’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. Her dimples melting Rianna’s heart.
“I say I want to go now! Can we, Momma? Please?” She made a sad face, and Mark did the same to help persuade his girlfriend into moving.
“Ok, ok! We’ll move.” was her decision.
Back in Florida, Nick was falling into a deep state of depression. He felt lost without his wife and little girl. He stopped caring about everything. It was physically evident too. His face was covered in stubble. His room was unkempt. The kitchen was filthy. The dishes hadn’t been washed in days and food was stuck to every single plate.
He turned the TV on and saw Mark at the premier of his new movie. Rianna was by his side and Selena was there also with Aimee. His family had become Mark’s family. His life had become Mark’s life. A reporter asked Mark if he and Rianna planned to tie the knot in the future.
“We’ve talked about it. But we’re not rushing things.” Was his response. Then he looked at Rianna and kissed her. Nick threw the remote at the TV with such force that the remote broke into several pieces.
“You mother fucker! She’s my wife! My daughter! My family! My fucking family!” He screamed at the screen. The couple kissed again and Nick got up, knocked the TV over, breaking it. Tears burned in his eyes, and he tried to hold it in.
“Dammit!” He screamed. Punching the wall and creating a large dent. He punched it again, then there was a hole. He looked at his knuckles and they were bleeding. But he felt no pain in his hand. The pain was in his heart. He leaned his back against the wall and slid to the floor.
Rianna’s wedding band and engagement ring were on a chain around his neck. He pulled it out of his shirt and held it in his hand. It was the only thing that comforted him. He used to think that one day she would return to him and wear it. But now he knew that would never happen. He looked at his own wedding band and wondered why he still wore it. Their marriage was over. Not yet legally, but it would be soon. He started to pull it off, but left it where it was.
A few weeks had gone by, and Mark was driving up to the country mansion he bought in Savannah, Georgia. Rianna looked out of the window, enjoying the scenery. Selena had fallen asleep in the back seat. He turned into a hidden entrance and drove up a long hill. All of a sudden the house came into view. It was the most beautiful house she had ever seen.
Selena work up just in time. Mark opened the door and told her to look around and tell him what she thought. She ran into the house with her teddy bear and went wild. Rianna stood at the door with Mark and they just looked at each other.
“Here we are. Our home.” He said to her.
“Yeah, here we are.” He pulled her toward him.
“The moving trucks will be here soon with all of our things. Once everything is in the house, we can break in the new bed.” He said playfully.
“Mark, I’ve been thinking. We’ve waited long enough. Maybe we should break in the new bed. No sense sleeping in the same bed and not doing anything.” Rianna said, Mark couldn’t believe his ears.
“Are you sure?” He looked down into her eyes.
“I’m absolutely sure. As soon as Sel goes to bed, we’re going to make love until sunrise.” They started kissing again and holding each other tightly.
“You’ve got tension.” Rianna said, feeling it growing.
“Yeah, which is why this is a good time to find Selena and tour the house. That way she'll get exhausted and go to bed sooner.” She let him go and they started a search for Selena.
It was almost nine at night before all of the furniture was in place and Selena was in bed. Rianna returned to their bedroom and found Mark taking his shirt off. The muscles in his back contracted and Rianna felt weak in the knees. She was about to make love to this adonis of men.
He turned around and saw her watching him. He approached her and lifted her shirt over her head. Never having seen her naked body, he was anxious to undress her. He reached behind her and closed the door, then he undid her bra clasps. It fell the floor and she kicked it to the side. Mark placed his hands on each of her breasts.
“You’re shaking.” She whispered. Mark felt a little ashamed. He had slept with so many women in his lifetime. Now, all of a sudden, he’s trembling with Rianna and he hasn’t even got into bed with her yet.
“It’s ok.” She added. She moved his hands to her shorts and helped him push them down. Then she pulled him over to the bed. Lying her down, he slowly pulled her panties off, tossing them across the room. He swallowed hard at the work of art before him. He deftly worked his hands up toward her hips, then towards the middle of her body. He kissed her there, on her flower-like lips. Then he moved upward, kissing her navel. He kept moving in that direction until their lips met. He rolled over and let her unzip his jeans, pulling them off and letting them fall to the floor. He lifted himself up and pulled his own boxers off.
“My turn to relieve your tension.” With that, she turned the light out, climbs on top of him, then pulled the sheets over their bodies.
The clock read 8:23 when Mark collapsed on Rianna. Their hearts were racing, and he felt weak. Truly spent. He rolled over and closed his eyes.
“I love you.” He said in between deep breaths.
“I love you too, Mark.” She replied. He started to rub his hard stomach, laughing.
“What’s so funny?” She wondered if maybe he was laughing at what they just said to each other.
“I’m not laughing because something’s funny. I’m laughing because I’ve never had sex non-stop, all night long. I mean, damn... that was really good.” He lifted the sheets and looked at himself.
“And I could still keep going.” Rianna had to laugh with him. He was just rolling back on top of her when Selena knocked on the door.
“What is it, sweetie?” Mark called through the door.
“Mark, there’s a nasty bug in my room!” She whined.
“Ok, here I come.” He responded, getting out of bed. He realized he was naked and slipped on a pair of sweat pants from one of the boxes on the floor. Rianna got up and found one of Mark’s big t-shirts to put on. Her cell phone rang, and she reached into her purse to get it. She immediately recognized the number.
“Yes Nick?”
“Where the hell are you? I called your place like four times.” She sat down on the edge of the bed.
“I am a grown woman. I do not have to tell you where I am every single time you want to know.” She snapped back.
“Yeah, well you’re also the mother of my child and when no one answers the phone in the house my child lives in this early in the morning, I have a right to worry.” Rianna rolled her eyes, not believing he was calling and talking to her this way so early.
“Yes I am Sel’s mother. Which means I am responsible for her. And as long as she’s in my care, she will be just fine. So you don’t ever have a reason to worry. And since you’re so concerned, we don’t reside in New York anymore.” Nick stopped pacing when her heard the last of her statement.
“You moved? Where?” He asked.
“We live in Savannah now. All of us.” Nick started to hit the wall again, but his hand was still sore.
“So what, he’s just replaced me, Rianna? You’re living with him now? Right, and since you’re living with him, you gotta be fucking him too. That’s just great! That’s just fucking wonderful! The space where you slept in my bed isn’t even warm and you’re already fucking that bastard! Rianna, why? All I wanted was for us to work things out, baby. I love you so much, and you’ve just removed yourself from my life. I have nothing now! No one! Fucking no one! Do you know how that feels? Do you know what it feels like to want to hold the one person in the world that you love and their not there? Do you, Rianna?!?!?” Nick screamed. Rianna started to cry. She knew Nick very well, and she knew he was falling apart.
“Nick, please don’t start this again. I’ve moved on! You need to do the same.”
“No! NO!!! Till death do us part! That is what you said to me! We fucking promised each other, Rianna! Forever! We were supposed to be together forever! What happened to that, huh?” Nick was crying now, and shouting at the same time.
“You stopped loving me, that’s what happened!”
“Baby, no. I never stopped loving you. Come back to me and I’ll show you. Please. I need you here. This is killing me. My life is so empty without you, baby. Please! Oh God, Rianna! I am begging you, come back to me!” Nick was sitting on the floor now, his back against the bed, sobbing. Rianna was sitting the same way. They both could hear the other crying.
“Marriages only work when two people truly love each other. And I believe you when you say that you still love me, Nick. But I don’t love you. Not anymore.” Rianna hung the phone up after saying her last. Nick dropped the phone and was overwhelmed with tears. He felt like he was losing his mind. Rianna wouldn’t come home to him, he felt like he had nothing more to live for.
Mark returned to their bedroom to find Rianna on the floor, crying. Her eyes were red and her hands were shaking. He sat next to her and held her. Rocking with her. Kissing her forehead.
“He’s falling apart, Mark. He’s falling apart.” Mark understood why this concerned her. She loved Nick once. They were a happy couple once. And Nick will always hold a place in her heart. And knowing he was doing so badly was killing her inside. The only thing he wanted was to have her back, but being with him made her unhappy. So, there was no way for her to help him. Mark understood everything. So he held her. Comforted her.
