This cd was released in 1995 and is mainly a hip-hop/rap type groove with some raggae mixed in. Almost all of the songs are fast, with the exception of "Purpose" which is considerably slower. 311 says this was the rawest they've been, and it's the best 311 cd I've heard. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1997 and is very different than 311's previous self titled cd. For the most part, this cd is a lot slower and mellower, and not very much hip-hop/rap is in this. Some people have said that it was their best since "Music", but I don't know. My rating: 4/10.
This cd has a lot of skits and songs, and it's Adam Sandler's first. It even features "The Thanksgiving Song" (where I get my nickname) and a few more mellow songs. And though it may be good for an initial laugh, the skits lose their humor after listening to it for 4 hours straight. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and is Adam's most graphic to date. It's much like his prior cd, "They're All Going to Laugh At You", in that there are skits and songs mixed throughout the cd. The songs, for the most part, are what keeps this cd worth listening to. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and is much different than his prior 2 cds. The other two had skits and songs mixed throughout, whereas this cd is strictly songs, the whole way through. Mainly keyboard instruments, this cd rocks the house. His best one to date, imho, including "The Goat Song", about a talking goat, a character Sandler introduced on his prior cd, "What the Hell Happened to Me?". My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1995 and has since sold millions upon millions of copies. The pop singer sings mainly about broken relationships, in a not-so-friendly sort of way. The tunes are catchy, and the lyrics fitting, and altogether this cd is decent. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1997 and is mainly a punk rock explosion. This group sounds a lot like MxPx or older Green Day, and have quite humorous lyrics, too. For example, in "Degenerate", the singer talks about lying around, in a gutter, naked. The cd has some catchy tunes on it and overall is pretty good. My rating: 7/10.
This album was released in 1987, and features parodies of classic Christmas songs. For example, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is "The Restroom Door Said Gentlemen", about a guy who walks in the ladies room, thinking that it was the men's room. The cd is good for some seasonal laughs, but doesn't really fit at any other time other than November through January. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1992, and features more of what the prior cd, "Twisted Christmas" did. The title track is a parody of "Ironman" by Black Sabbath, and this features more humorous bits. But like "Twisted Christmas", it's seasonal humor, and probably wouldn't be as funny in the middle of Summer. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and gives the listener even MORE of what is on "Twisted Christmas" and "I Am Santa Claus", only with a more classic approach. Here, mostly big-band songs are transformed, such as "D'yer Maker" by Led Zepplin, is "Sled Zepplin". And "Happy Birthday" by the Beatles, is "Jesus' Birthday". And though the humor is seasonal, the music isn't all seasonal. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1993, and features the single, "Shine". Most of this cd is pretty mellow, but by the time "Scream" rolls around, the tempo has picked up quite rapidly. This cd is great, but not the best to begin with. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1995, and is probably the best cd to start out with Collective Soul. There is much variety, from the very electric "Where the River Flows", to the rootsy "Reunion", this cd has it all. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and is a lot like the self titled. There isn't much difference in the overall sound of this Atlanta-based band, but the music has much variety, still. If you like any Collective Soul, this is probably the cd for you. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1999 and is EXCELLENT. It is fairly slow overall, and is classic Collective Soul style. There is more keyboard influence on this cd than the previous Collective Soul cds, and it is overall softer than the others as well. There are still faster songs on there (like the single, "Heavy") but it's a slow cd. The enhancement didn't get far on my computer, since I don't have an internet connection. And there's a hidden track as well-- a remixed (slower) version of the song, "She Said", which was originally on the Scream 2 soundtrack, and in the movie as well. My rating: 10/10.
I haven't listened to this cd more than about twice. I bought it from a friend for $5, and it's pretty good, what I remember. There are some pretty catchy tunes on it, and this band sounds a lot like Matchbox 20. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1993, and was recorded on a 4-track in a basement. It is Everclear's debut, but the low quality of recording really distracts from how well it could be. This cd probably only real Everclear fans should get, and if you only like the singles off "Sparkle and Fade" or "So Much for the Afterglow", this isn't necessarily for you. My rating: 5/10.
This cd was released in 1995, and is very diverse. First, from the fast songs like "Chemical Smile", to the slower song immediately following, "My Sexual Life", this cd is excellent. It's very catchy, overall, and the lyrics are very deep as well. My rating: 10/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and is quite different (though not by much) than the prior Everclear cd, "Sparkle and Fade". Art Alexakis was going for a much different sound than on "Sparkle and Fade" and came out with songs like "I Will Buy You a New Life", and "Father of Mine". This cd is another must-have. My rating: 10/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and has much diversity. Lead singer, Dave Grohl, formerly drummer for Nirvana, handles this band very well. And the songs prove it. My rating: 8/10.
My friend turned me on to this band, on Scratchie Records, and they're a lot like Our Lady Peace. The cd is pretty good, but only for true music fans. If you're looking for ear candy, look elsewhere. There is a little diversity, but not a whole lot. My rating: 5/10.
This cd was released in 1996, after Carlin's HBO special, "Back In Town" aired live. It features Carlin talking about everything from abortion to farting in public. And though it is graphic, it's good for a real hard laugh. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1990, on Lookout Records, from previous EP stuff. The sound is much different than modern Green Day, and the lyrics for the most part are about love. The cd is very poetic, and sounds pretty good too. If you don't know the lyrics, or aren't reading along, the cd may sound pretty dumb, but once you know what Billie Joe is saying, you can really relate. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1992, and features an older version of "Welcome to Paradise". This was the first cd Green Day released with drummer Tré Cool, their current drummer. The sound isn't much different than that of "1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours", nor is the lyric content, but it is more of a transition period between the older Green Day sounds, and the more modern Green Day sounds. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1993, and is the one that MTV and radio really picked up on. It was after Green Day got transferred to Reprise Records, and has much more modern Green Day sounds, such as in "Basket Case" or "She". My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1995, and is all about doing speed. The cd is very high-tempo, and is much more punkish than any other Green Day cd there is. It's guaranteed to speed up your heart rate, if you let it. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and is more like the "best of Green Day". It has the sound from "Dookie" and "Insomniac", with the lyric contents of "1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" and "Kerplunk". This cd is also Green Day's most diverse release yet, with acoustic/slow songs like "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" and "Last Ride In", to more grunge-esque songs, like "Take Back" and "Platypus (I Hate You)". This cd has something for about every moment, and is Green Day's best so far. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1997 and is from a great local band from Minneapolis, MN. Like Fulflej, this was another group my girlfriend turned me on to, and this one is worth it! There's a lot of diversity, with lots of country influence, but the cd isn't really all that country. There are also strings, and even some good rockin' songs on there. It sounds sort of like Gin Blossoms, or slow Blues Traveller, or maybe even older Collective Soul. My rating: 8/10.
Remember when rap was cool? I mean, the old school? Back when songs like "Jump" and "I Missed the Bus" were just the coolest? That's the reason I have this still. It's not a bad cd at all, in fact, it's pretty decent. Just not my taste anymore. My rating: 3/10.
I got this cd about when I was falling out with rap and the like. I don't even hardly remember how it sounds. My rating: 2/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and sounds a lot like Nirvana or Foo Fighters. It's got much diversity, and is pretty good, but I have heard that they have improved much since this cd was released, and I have yet to hear that for myself. This cd is decent, and I would recommend you get it right now, if you haven't already. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1994 and features a clever blend of stand up, and music, including parodies of some of CCM's biggest artists, such as Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and others, for an hour of entertainment. I have the video, but it was also released in audio format. Unlike his later release, "Remotely Controlled", this does not have as many (though there are some) visual gags, so audio format would be about as funny as watching the video. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and is very humorous. Although a lot of the humor gets lost in the cd (it was released in both video and audio formats and there are a lot of visual gags), it's still good for a laugh all year round. With a mix of music, and standup, and skits, and parody commercials, this clean cd is good for anyone's funnybone. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and features the singles "Push", "3 AM", and many others. But the cd lacks diversity. Overall I find it hard to listen all the way through. The songs are great, but I can't keep myself interrested in what Rob Thomas is saying. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and was much a disappointment to many, who remember the days when Metallica used to be a thrash metal band. I, personally, think this cd is great, but that's just me. If you want Metallica to be very hard, look elsewhere, but this cd has some decent slower songs on it. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1998, and sounds a lot like Blink 182. If you like Blink 182, you'll love MxPx. This group used to be on Tooth & Nail Records, which is a CCM (or, "Contemporary Christian Music") label, which got bought out. But don't think that this cd is all Christian. Most of the lyric content is about looking for real love, something that I could totally relate to. My rating: 8/10.
The Newsboys are a CCM ("Contemporary Christian Music") group from Australia and this cd is alright. I have listened to it a few times, but I can't remember how this one sounds, exactly. It's not really my cup of tea, but other people may disagree. My rating: 4/10.
This cd was released in 1995 and is definately NOT ear candy. The screeches are horrible, and the techno sounds are not very pleasant at all. But there are some good lyrics in it, and overall it's not as bad as I originally thought, when I first heard it. This one takes some getting used to. My rating: 5/10.
This cd was released in 1991 and has a lot of diversity in it. From singles such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit", to songs like "Something In the Way", this cd has a lot of diversity. It's what made Nirvana so popular, which led to lead singer Kurt Cobain's suicide. But the music is excellent, and is a must-get. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1994, and was Nirvana's performance on MTV's "Unplugged". It features live acoustic versions of songs such as "On a Plain" and "Penny Royal Tea", as well as some others like "Oh Me" and "Plateau". This is a good, mellow cd that is better for more ranges of people. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1996, well after singer Kurt Cobain's suicide. It's a collection of various live performances by Nirvana, and is more for real Nirvana fans. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and is remnant of the Beatles. Another band from England, singing with heavy accents, and playing Beatle-esque tunes. There is much diversity still, but overall the cd lacks it. My rating: 6/10.
I haven't listened to this very much, but it doesn't sound a lot different than their next cd, "Ixnay On the Hombre". I also don't know much about the Offspring, so anything I say here would probably be wrong. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and has a lot of punkish sounds to it. There isn't a whole lot of musical diversity, but with tracks such as "Intermission" and "Don't Pick It Up", it's apparent that this band knows how to have fun. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1998 and features the favorites "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?". It's also enhanced, and though my computer doesn't do much, the enhancements are excellent, still, featuring some of their older videos, and karaoke versions of 3 songs. The cd itself is, well, Offspring. It's softer than their prior two cds, "Smash" and "Ixnay on the Hombre". My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1995, and has a lot of pop-ish sounding tunes from a trio out of Seattle, who sing about kitties and peaches. The lyrics are at times humorous, and the tunes find a way to get in your head for weeks at a time. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and was a followup to the self titled. Pusa has a few harder songs on this cd, but it's still pretty mellow. Chris Ballew is still singing about anything, though. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1998, and was the last cd they released, after Pusa broke up. It has more diversity on it, but it is more of a rarity/live cd, with songs from previous albums, like "Back Porch" and "Lump" live, and "Tiki Lounge God", a lounge version of "Tiki God", which appears on "II".
This cd was released in 1992, and won't play in my cd player. I am in the process of getting another copy of it, but until then, I've only heard it once. It's a mix of rap and rock, which is what Rage mainly is. I don't really remember how it sounds, but the single "Killing In the Name" comes on all the time. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and although some of the hooks are pretty good, listening to this at certain volumes can definately alter your mood. If you're happy before listening to this cd, and put it in, you will be in a mood of rage afterwards, if you let it. Buyer beware on this one. My rating: 6/10.
I don't know when exactly this cd was released, but it's limited edition, and it is no longer available. There is a cdr project going on but I don't know much about that. It was the debut from this Tempe, AZ-based band, and features earlier versions of most of the songs on their major-label debut, "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy". It's probably best suited for fans only, because most of the songs that are on it sound better during later recordings. I don't actually have the cd, I have a bootlegged tape copy of it. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and was the major label debut for the Refreshments. It features "Banditos" which is how most people classify them as just one hit wonders. There's a lot of variety on this "salsa rock" cd. I have bought 2 cd copies, and traded for a bootleg tape copy, because my old cd got lost. Plus, the cd copy I have now is severely scratched (and was when I bought it too) but I'd pay for it a third time if I had to. (Just for the cover art, if nothing else) My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and was the followup to their first cd, "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy". This cd has a lot catchier hooks, such as in "Broken Record" and "Preacher's Daughter" and is overall a better record than their previous work. It's just a shame they had to break up in 1998, so we can't hope for a third major label cd from this amazing band. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and is extremely soft. It will put you to sleep. Although I generally like cds that rok the house, this cd is pretty good to mellow out to. It's piano-based, and Sarah McLachlan has an indescribably beautiful singing voice. My rating: 7/10.
I got a bootleg copy of this cd as well, and it is pretty decent. I had expected better, but that was just judging from hearing the songs "Tomorrow" (which sounds like a Pearl Jam song) and "Suicidal Dream". And even though singer Daniel Johns was 15 at the time of this cd's release, he sounds like he was at least 40. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and is much different than their debut, Frogstomp. Frogstomp was more "raw", whereas this cd has more strings, and other things that add value to this cd. I don't know if I'd consider it *better* than Frogstomp, but it definately is different. My rating: 7/10.
The 2-cd set was released in 1996, and has thus become the best-selling 2-cd set of all time. My brother bought one of the discs, "Dawn to Dusk" for $5, and then sold it to me. It's mellower than one would think. This is another one of those cds that will put you to sleep if you let it, but it sounds beautiful. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1990, and was NOT the debut from this band. They've been around since 1981. (I just found this out recently). But this has a lot of punkish sounds to it, and sounds like a remnant of the rock from the '60s. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1992 and is definately much more bluesy than the self titled, and is very poetic as well. Some of the songs aren't like this, and I usually skip over them, but when I'm feeling down I pop in this cd. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1996, and much like Rage Against the Machine's self titled cd, this cd won't play in my cd player. It's not much like the previous punkish/bluesy Social Distortion from their prior 2 cds, but it's definately good. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1996, about a month after lead singer Brad Nowell's death by heroin overdose. This mixes ska and punk and inner city sounds, for a sound unique to this band. For the trendy, don't expect the cd to sound much like the singles, but for hardcore fans, enjoy! My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1997, and features nothing new. There are 7 songs on the EP, and it features the censored version of "What I Got", but there's nothing new on it. This cd should only be bought by the trendy, or those who are just looking to beef up their cd collection, or Sublime discography. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1997 and is filled with punkish sounds like that in the band's single, "RPM". Most people only knew them from "Fly", which is a much softer song. My rating: 6/10.
This tape (it's just me) was given to my girlfriend back in May or so, of 1998. She has the only full copy of the tape, and last I checked, it still is that way. It's just me, playing some songs I wrote, on acoustic guitar, with no vocals. One of the songs on there, though, called "So There", will appear on the up coming tribute album to the Presidents of the United States of America. And though some of the songs on there were the best I ever played them, listening now I think I have improved much since the recording. But it definately is not ear candy, the quality is very poor. My rating: 5/10.
This cd was released in 1997 and is the band's only album to date. Overall, the cd is very soft, and it has little variety if any. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1998 and it definately rocks! It's a punkish band from California, who I saw their videos "Teenage Suicide" and "California Sky" on the Box video network, and their cd is awesome! It sounds sort of like Blink 182 or Green Day, but yet they have a style all their own. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1996 as a promo for Sam Goody and Musicland, and features some good polka songs. I mainly bought it because it came with a free Weird Al poster (the cd was $4.98) and it's pretty good. Most of the songs are duets with the late Frankie Yankovic (no relation to Weird Al) and is-- polka. I think it's out of print now, but it was a good cd. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1994 and has a lot of older songs on it, and is pretty much not my taste. I didn't find most of the songs particularly funny, which is what Dr. Demento is noted for putting out. My rating: 5/10.
This 2-cd set was released in 1995 and has songs, new and old, which are funny. It features from artists such as "Weird Al" Yankovic, They Might Be Giants, and even Leonard Nimoy. My rating: 6/10.
I bought this cd off a kid for $5 and heard it no more than bits and pieces. I don't have any idea what it sounds like, but I remember I didn't like what I heard. My rating: 2/10.
This cd was released in 1993, and is more a rarity/live cd than anything. If you're not a Femmes' fan already, don't start with this one. Some of the tracks on it are such poor quality they're for true fans only. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1994, and may be better to get into the band than "Add It Up" was. The sound on this is much more pleasant, and it is a good cd to listen to. And the lyrics are very poetic as well. My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1995 and features the song most people know them by, which is "Buddy Holly". The cd lacks much variety, but is a good listen. My rating: 6/10.
This cd was released in 1996 and was the followup to the self titled debut. It is much more raw than the first, and features more (though still not much) variety. It is very short, and for what you're getting, it seem like a waste of money. My rating: 7/10.
This album was released in 1983 and was Weird Al's debut album. Actually, I think it's the oldest complete album I own. It's great for Al fans, or for those who can remember some really early '80s songs that he parodies.... the album is based around the accordion, which is great, but not for everyone. Overall, I think this is one of Weird Al's best cds. My rating: 8/10.
This album was released in 1984 and features the song most people associate with Weird Al, that is, "Eat It" (a parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", if you didn't already know). I haven't listened to this cd all the way through in some time, but it definately sounds '80s-ish. My rating: 7/10.
This album was released in 1985, and claims to fame as the first comedy album printed on cd. The songs pretty much sound '80s-ish, which is very prominent with Weird Al's work during this time. It features the most singles (4) of any of Weird Al's albums and is a good cd. My rating: 7/10.
This album was released in 1986 and was a real disappointment in sales. Probably because of the title, but that's just my hunch. It is a wonderful cd, though, featuring some of the best original Weird Al songs he's ever done (in my humble opinion) such as "Good Enough for Now" and the single, "Christmas At Ground Zero". The cd is good, if you give it a fair chance. My rating: 9/10.
This album was released in 1988 and is one of only 2 official albums by Weird Al that does not feature a polka medley. It sounds pop-ish, overall, with a few songs that are down-to-home, like "Melanie" and "Good Old Days". My rating: 7/10.
This cd was released in 1989, and was the official soundtrack to Weird Al's movie, "UHF". The film comes on Comedy Central all the time, and the cd features about 50% songs from the film, and 50%, well, other stuff. It's one of Weird Al's best yet, and I had quite a time finding it. I had to special order it, actually. But I found it at the Wall a while back, so I know it's still available. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1990 and I've actually only listened to the cd once. Because I have all of his songs elsewhere, but I am a huge Weird Al fan, so I wanted it for my discography. It features most of his previous singles at the time, and is a good cd to sum up the '80s. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1992 and was the first cd that Weird Al produced himself. It's basically a parody of Nirvana's "Nevermind", with a parody of the cover art, a parody of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and a style parody of "Endless Nameless". Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana) did say in an interview that one time he really felt like he made it, was when Weird Al did a parody of his song. Much like "Polka Party", the originals are just as good, if not better than, the parodies on this cd. It's a must-have to sum up the early '90s. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1993 and features all of Weird Al's songs (with the exception of "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch", a parody of Cindi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which appears on "Dare To Be Stupid") which relate to food. It even includes "Fat" which isn't really about food, but oh well. And every song on here is a parody of something else, too. Which is a quality unique to any of Weird Al's cds. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1993 and is another great cd to have. The tunes are classic, and span from all times. There is a lot of variety on this cd as well. My rating: 9/10.
This 4-cd boxed set was released in 1994 and features some of Weird Al's best songs to date. It also contains the original "My Balogna", recorded in a men's bathroom at Al's college, in 1979. A lot of the Permanent Record is studio stuff as it appears on other albums, and this is probably best for fans only. My rating: 9/10.
This cd was released in 1994, and features the same cover art as that on the Permanent Record boxed set. It also features 12 of the songs from the boxed set, and more favorites from Weird Al. It was the first cd I ever bought, and got severely scratched 3 days later, but the songs are great. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1995 to satisfy the public who were waiting for another cd to come out, and though I don't actually have a copy of it, I have a copy of all of the songs elsewhere. I'm still gonna get it to complete my collection, though. Judging by the songs on it (which are all of Weird Al's songs that relate to TV with the exception of "Isle Thing", a parody of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" which appears on the UHF soundtrack), it's a great compilation. My rating: 8/10.
This cd was released in 1996 and was the much anticipated album, after practically a 3 year hiatus. The originals on this cd really lack originality, I hate to say, but the parodies are what makes this cd a good listen. My rating: 8/10.
And there you have it. All my cds, revued. If you have any major corrections (spelling, release dates, or something I said the band did that they didn't....) please direct them to me, and I'll fix it as soon as I can. Thanx for taking the time to read this page.
