This is our quest for the "Iron Butt National Park Tour"
After about one month of having our Honda Shadow my wife and I decided
to take on theIron Butt's National Park Tour challenge. The rules a pretty
simple, butt that doesn't mean that the challenge is. Basically you have
to ride to 50+ National Parks in 25different states within a one year time
period. At each park you stop by the visitorscenter to stamp your "passport"
book with the date and park name. This is how you keeptrack of the different
parks and states that you have visited. This sounds easy butt it's not.
There is a lot of riding, getting lost looking for parks in the middle
of nowhere, and long rides down the highways. Here's a map of the states
that we've visited.
Well over the 4th of July weekend we finished our last parks for
a total of 25 states and 56 parks. Now all I have to do is wait on the
paper work and we should have our second "Iron Butt" this year. We also
finished the Capitol Area 1000 to
earn a "Saddle Sore" award. I've written trip reports for each of our rides
and the Cap1000.
Trip One: The Begining
Trip Two: Spilled Gas and a Golden Eagle Pass
Trip Three: Rain Rain Go the Hell Away
Interlude: The Winter Months
Trip Four: Butt, it Hurts
Interlude 2: The Short Trips
Trip 5: Where the Hell is the Park?
Interlude: The Capitol Area 1000
