The net force is the resultant force on an object when there are unbalanced forces acting.

In the diagram below, there is an object with 2 forces acting on it. You can imagine that the object is a ball being pushed by one kid (10N) and pushed by another kid (5N).

The result is 5N to the left and the motion is the same as having only one force to the left.

This is the net force.
