Balanced forces are two forces that are equal in size, but opposite in direction.

They create a "tug-o-war" situation with both teams equal. There is no winner. There is no net force.

When the forces are balanced, there is no acceleration. If the forces are not equal or not balanced, there IS acceleration as shown below.
