William, the duke of Normandy: 1048 to 1060

You do raise an army, but you could wish that it was bigger. The king's army is arrayed with himself in the center, William of Talou on the left, and count Geoffrey of Anjou on the right: you know that your most dangerous foe is count Geoffrey: risking all in a single stroke, you throw your entire chivalry at his division. In the battle, your ferocity is legendary (a carry-over, no doubt, from the berserker rages of your Viking ancestors): count Geoffrey's forces are driven from the field in total rout. King Henry's courage fails him and he flees the field, "to regroup in safety within his own lands." William of Talou, never a strong commander of men, also takes flight and withdraws to his castle at Arques in defiance. You are master of the field.
Move your army to besiege Arques.
