William, the duke of Normandy: 1048 to 1060

The first French troops to contest your siege of Arques are the men of count Enguerrand of Ponthieu. Your army is daily increasing in size, as your loyal knights bring their contingents to the siege. You have enough men to continue the siege and maintain a mobile force as well.

Young count Enguerrand is inexperienced in warfare. But his army is formidable in both size and resolve (his sister is married to your uncle, and both of them are besieged in Arques).
Lay an ambush for the Ponthievins
Offer a parley.
Retreat to Rouen.
