It's a Girl!

Today was a much better day! Our hotel room comes with a complimentary lounge area on another floor. They serve breakfast, snacks and drinks all day for free. That is nice when you can only use bottled water to drink and brush your teeth with! They also have a computer up there with Internet service - which is where we send these from. We started our day up there eating breakfast. There were several adopting families up there. We met some nice people from the Midwest. We passed an hour or so chatting with them while waiting for the time to come to meet the attorney with Elyana.

At 10:00 am we went down to the lobby to wait...and wait...and wait. The hotel was having some work redone on the tiles and the chemical smell was terrible. We had to keep going outside to wait as we were all getting headaches. Dad, we thought you would have felt at home since it smells like your garage! Around 11:30 Caitlan and I were standing outside getting air when we looked inside and saw the foster mom with Elyana. We went in and met her and the interpreter.

The first time we saw Elyana

Elyana was, of course, asleep! She has been asleep in every picture we have seen of her so it was no surprise to have her sleeping again! She was so pretty. The foster mom held her out to me to take her. I was kind of afraid to take her and have her wake up and be scared when a stranger was holding her. I held her quite a while and she was still asleep and I passed her to Timm. I filled out paperwork for the embassy with the interpreter while Timm got to hold her.

She still slept! We passed her on to Caitlan while the foster mom answered questions about her care and habits.

She finally woke up as the foster mom was leaving. She just smiled from ear to ear - and has continued to do so ever since! She has cried for about 30 seconds the whole day. She was the only child the foster mom took care of and she has older teenage daughters that held her all the time. It sounds like she was pretty spoiled!

She read our home study and knew that we were Christians. She had told us on the DVD that she was also a believer. She made sure the interpreter told us she has been in church every week since she was a couple of weeks old.

Our hotel is built on top of a mall which is really nice. There are a lot of American places to eat. We walked down and had lunch. She likes French fries!

Later, we took her to the pool and she splashed and kicked like crazy. She loved the water like her big sister, Marissa! She really has been perfect, so far, today.

What a happy girl!

All the people we have talked to here have said their babies have had a really hard time adjusting. God has been so good to us as we have had no troubles at all, so far. We know that He brought her to us and He has definitely gone before us and prepared the way. She is a perfect little girl and we couldn't be happier or prouder. We will post our embassy pictures tomorrow. Then it will be officially over!!

Love to all - can't wait to get home and see everyone!
