TIME LINE
It was right at Thanksgiving 2005 when we first really considered adoption. We began our homestudy in 2006.

September 8th, 2006
Dossier to China (DTC) sent by Great Wall China Adoption Agency in Austin, Texas (GWCA).

October 9th, 2006
Log in Date (LID) with the CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs).

March 7th, 2007

  • "Found" Julia on IAAP's (International Assistance Project) waiting child list.
  • Wrote letter to the CCAA asking to have the dossier pulled to be resubmitted under IAAP.

March 14th, 2007
Letter of Intent (LOI) to adopt Julia sent to the CCAA via IAAP.

March 19th, 2007
LOI received at the CCAA.

April 6th, 2007
Learned that the CCAA reversed its decision - you can no longer switch agencies. We asked GWCA to write a letter accepting Julia's file from IAAP. We returned her medical file and original pictures/documents to IAAP.

April 18th, 2007
Received pre-approval (PA) from the CCAA to adopt Julia!!!!

April 20th, 2007

  • IAAP returned Julia's file to the CCAA along with our PA, letter to release Julia's file, and GWCA's acceptance of the file.
  • Now we start the wait for the Letter of Acceptance (LOA). At this point we are unsure whether we have to submit another LOI with GWCA or not. We are simply waiting to hear from the Beijing office of GWCA if the CCAA has any questions.

June 1st, 2007
We learned that Julia's file had successfully been transfered to GWCA. We now had permission to submit our Letter of Intent to adopt her (again). We did, immediately.

June 21st, 2007
Received word from the CCAA that our LOI had been "accepted" which is a form of preapproval. We hope to have our Travel Approval within 100 days (this, of course, can fluctuate).

August 20th, 2007
We received our official TA!!! (Travel Approval!!!)

August 21st, 2007
We received our CA!!! (Consulate Appointment!!!) And it's set for September 10th, 2007!
