August 10th, 2006:
Wide Horizons For Children (WHFC) Introductory Meeting. We just decided to adopt and this was a mandatory first meeting which both Michael and I attended.
August 21st, 2006:
We mailed Affidavit of Health Insurance to WHFC.
August 24th, 2006:
Mailed preliminary paperwork to WHFC: Medical Statements; Financial Statements; Home Study Profile; Personal Background; Birth Certificates; Marriage Certificates; CORI Release Form (Criminal Offender Record Check); 2005 Income Tax Filing.
September 6th, 2006:
Mailed notarized CORI form for Kathy; Sent out three letters to friends for written referrals. We sent them to: Don and Sandee; Steve and Nat and Susan and Michael - (THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR WONDERFUL LETTERS.... YOU'RE THE BEST!)
September 8th, 2006:
First home study visit at WHFC office - both Michael and I attended.
September 12th, 2006:
Kathy got letter of employment
September 14th, 2006:
Pre-Adoption Meeting - 1/2 day event. Both Michael and I attended.
September 20th, 2006:
Second home study visit at WHFC office - This was Michael's individual visit.
September 21st, 2006:
Third home study visit at WHFC office - This was Kathy's individual visit.
September 22nd, 2006:
Started a personal journal for "Baby Cormier."
September 25th, 2006:
Mailed notarized CORI form for Michael.
September 26th, 2006:
Kathy completed medical forms with doctor.
September 27th, 2006:
Michael completed medical forms with doctor.
October 2nd, 2006:
Fourth and final home study visit - this was at our home with both Michael and I. Social worker toured the house and met the cats!
October 3rd, 2006:
Kathy attended a Medical Information meeting at WHFC - lots of information!!
October 10th, 2006:
Wrote guardianship letter - Cindy and Rick will be guardian; We received notice from our social worker that Michael had a problem with his CORI.... silly.... a dismissed incident from high school days - we had to write a letter of apology.
October 12th, 2006:
Kathy received notarized clearance letter from local police - no criminal background.
October 13th, 2006:
Got a copy of the dismissed charge for the incident on Michael's CORI from the courts.
October 24th, 2006:
Complete home study report was sent to USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services).
October 25th, 2006:
We got everything notarized by Michael Cerundolo - THANKS MICHAEL!!
October 29th, 2006:
Yahoo!! We have ALMOST completed the paperchase! We sent the completed dossier to the WHFC office for review; We received the OK from WHFC to start the fingerprint process.
November 2nd, 2006:
We received notice to get our fingerprints done! Yippee!
November 3rd, 2006:
Received call from WHFC - everything looks good on our dossier. They liked the letter we wrote on why we wanted to adopt from China.
November 4th, 2006:
Got fingerprints done.
December 2nd, 2006:
Kathy started shot series for travel.
December 12th, 2006:
More shots!
December 18th, 2006:
We received our copy of I-797C and had this notarized - THANKS DAN!
January 5th, 2007:
We had all notaries verified by the Secretary of State's office in Boston. The woman there was so nice - she processed everything for us that day so that we wouldn't have to wait the weekend to pick up the completed forms.
January 8th, 2007:
Completed dossier sent to the Chinese Consulate in New York for authentication.
January 9th, 2007:
Received news about new rules that are to come into effect to adopt from China effective May 1st, 2007. Hopefully we will not be affected by these new guidelines. WHFC feels that we will be OK as long as we are logged in with the CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs) before May 1st, 2007. There is no guarantee, we just need to wait until May and hope for the best; Also today - more shots!! Only one left to get in July, 2007. Michael hasn't even started yet!! I hope he doesn't get sick when we are away!!
January 23rd, 2007:
Woo Hoo!! We received the completed authenticated dossier from the Chinese Consulate in New York.
January 24th, 2007:
Overnighted completed dossier to WHFC.
January 30th, 2007:
FINALLY we are DTC (Dossier To China)!!!!! We made the deadline and don't have to wait for the next batch to go to China. Yippee Yahoo!! - it's real now!! We have been told by WHFC that it has been taking 5-6 weeks for the CCAA to log in all dossiers. Hopefully, it will happen quicker!!
February 27th, 2007:
Wooooo Hoooooo!!! - FINALLY - We just received notice from our agency that we have a LID (Log In Date) of February 15th, 2007 with the CCAA. This means that we are officially on the wait list Yaaahooooo!! We are now 12 days closer to becoming parents!! Only 15-17 months to go!! Say a prayer that it goes quickly!!
September 17th, 2007:
We received a packet from WHFC to update our home study for China. The documents that needed to be updated were the medical information authorization form, the CORI forms for consent for a criminal records check, and the form for the Central Abuse Registry.
September 26th, 2007:
We had completed the CORI forms for the Central Child Abuse Registry and had them notarized and mailed them off.
September 27th, 2007:
We completed the CORI forms for the Criminal Records check and mailed them off.
October 5th, 2007:
Michael had a new physical and completed updated paperwork with doctor.
October 23rd, 2007:
Kathy had a new physical and completed updated paperwork with doctor.
October 24th, 2007:
Mailed final medical forms to WHFC to update home study.
