Chapter 15: The Fight Begins

“Gemini!” Orion cried out. He swam back to the Palace with all due speed, with his heart in his throat, as his day to fight had come at last. He was already afraid that he’d be too late to save Gemini from Adam’s clutches. When he made it to her bedroom, he saw that Adam and Dragoonas had two prisoners, Gemini and Misty. He gasped, “Misty!”
She called over to him, holding onto the ropes of her net, “Orion, watch out before they get you too. You can’t let them win!”
“Misty, I’m coming, don’t worry!” He rushed over, but Adam stopped him with the stroke of his cold hand. The darkness in his heart was taking him over again. He fell to the ground, screaming in pain. Misty cried out, “Orion, please! Don’t give up, fight it! Fight it!”
His eyes snapped open and his tail twitched with anger. Despite the pain tearing in his chest, he swam closer, attempting to use his knife to cut the ropes of the net. Adam quickly swiped his tail around and Orion was knocked unconscious for a short time. Marina shook him awake when she arrived at his side, “Orion, can you hear me?” He shook himself awake, “Are you all right?”
“Yes, but I have to hurry. Adam can’t get away with this. I need to get to my weapon arsenal.” He swam to Oceana’s cave to pick up his weapons, preparing himself for the fight of his life. Marina came along while Oceana kept a close watch from behind; she planned to spring on Marina’s cue when it’d be time to attack. She pointed them in the direction to Adam’s cave.

Orion saw that two dark pillars, with dark bubbles oozing out of them like fountains, that led to the Cave of Darkness. He swallowed, being a little nervous as he treed into unknown territory. He nearly had a heart attack upon his venture into the cave, but he stayed strong. It was almost like Oceana’s, but it was lined with dark crystals. He was scared, knowing that he could die just from the dark energy surging from those crystals.
He heard an evil laugh calling out from the darkness that made shivers run down his spine, “So, you were crazy enough to come into our home base, simple fool. You will die here just from the dark energy.” Orion gazed at those evil eyes staring at him from a distance, and felt both fear and anger. “Every light must fade and return to darkness. This darkness will swallow your internal light; it cannot break the power within this cave.”
“You’re wrong. The darkness may destroy my body, but it can’t touch my good spirit. Oceania’s source of power is repaired and back in its rightful place. When you made your plan to destroy this realm, you weren’t counting on me. That was your biggest mistake. It is my destiny for light to win over darkness. I guarantee that you will fall and I will rise to victory.”
He swam through the darkness and met Adam face to face. “You’re afraid of and against the darkness. The darkness will consume the scared and careless. You have the weakness of fear and sadness, which will cause the darkness to swallow you up. It is inevitable! Ha ha!” He laughed on, evilly.
“If you want a fair fight, Adam, we need to go outside into the open space where none of our elements can help either of us. Unless you are a coward!”
“All right, so be it.” He snapped his fingers and he disappeared. Dragoonas came out of the darkness and pushed Orion out of the Cave of Darkness. Adam brought out the net with his prisoners inside, “I couldn’t want little Misty and my sister to miss out on your defeat.”
Misty cried out, “Orion! You have to fight him! You can do this, I believe in you!” He could only nod, as he felt more courageous than he ever had. He asked, “Why did you kidnap your own sister, Adam? The darkness hurt her; you shouldn’t take the side of the force that has hurt her.”
He brushed it off. “The darkness is the heart’s true essence and it has already started to eat at you from the inside out.”
“I don’t want to hear your lies, Adam! Let’s finish this now!”
He shouted in disgust, “That is no lie!! Dragon, take Orion down, destroy him!”

Dragoonas rushed at him, but Orion’s quick reflexes helped him draw his sword to slash a large gash in his head, giving that evil dragon a splitting headache. While he was distracted, Orion got his bow and arrows ready to firing. Dragoonas, who was slightly blinded by that slash, went in the direction he could sense Orion’s fear coming from. Once he made his first move, Orion started firing arrows off, one by one, each of them piercing through the skin and causing Dragoonas to start bleeding heavily. When he was weakened, Orion got closer, staying away from his deadly jaws and tail and slashed him in his belly, the most sensitive spot of his body that wasn’t covered by scales. In an instant, Oceana appeared to shine her light. Together with Orion, their light blinded Dragoonas and with his deep wounds, he fell to the ground, failing to rise.
Gemini gasped as the slightly evil part of her was released. She then fainted after being through so much. As for Adam, he felt a major pain in his chest with that hit. It wasn’t quite enough to take him out of the fight, which Orion had failed to see.
Orion, in the meantime, freed Misty and Gemini from the ropes of their net. She immediately hugged him, feeling relieved, “Orion, I was so scared.” She cried, terrified in his arms.
He hushed her, “I’m fine, Misty. Everything’s okay now, nothing more to worry about.” He felt deeply relieved in his heart, relieved that he had defeated the greatest evil he had come to know. He had defeated the black dragon of pure darkness. There was nothing left for him to be nervous about underwater anymore.

Unfortunately, he was wrong. He felt something from behind stabbing him in the pit of his stomach. He looked down, seeing that Dragoonas’ tail was sticking completely through him.
