Chapter 14: Balley Delay by Sharks

The following day, Misty tried to help ease him up. “Orion, listen, you’ve been looking dreadful lately because of these deep feelings you’re having.”
“It’s not because I’m in love, Misty, it’s because I’m scared of what’s going to happen. I don’t know if I’m going to live through this fight. I wish I could borrow some courage from Jonas. He never seemed to be so afraid when it came to his big fight.”
“Orion, you’re going to make it, it’s your destiny.” She paused, remembering the reason she wanted to talk with him. “I just need to tell you that even though depression lures the dragon to you, in our species, it’s a disease that kills. You could die right now if you were sad enough.”
“Sorry, but my dreams… I’m just so afraid of the future. I’m trying not to be depressed and scared, but I am.”
She took him outside for a stroll and leaned her head on his shoulder, “Listen, a few of us, Melody, May and Marion hold a ballet every year and I’d like you to see it with Marina and me. It’s so amazing and it can make you feel better, since it’ll get your mind off of this dilemma.”
“Sure, why not?” He shrugged, “I have some spare time on my hands. While I’m down here, I might as well as see something I’m going to remember.”
Orion and the two sisters watched as Misty’s older, elegant sisters were using their beautiful talents to put on a beautiful show. He had not seen anything like this in his life. It was made up of elegant dancing from most of the sisters and was choreographed by Gemini earlier in the summer for the occasion. It was mainly to celebrate the blossoms of the nearby salmon colored reef, which resembled cherry blossoms on land.
The music was played by Marion’s harp, as she strummed the strings that were delicate hairs that have fallen out of her own head. She had the talent to make music out of anything and it was always very beautiful sounding, almost resembling that of an angel’s harp. Melody had a beautiful, angelic voice to accompany Marion’s harp.
The flower blossoms came to life thanks to May’s power to make beautiful flowers blossom and the stage sparkled of the flower dust and the minerals within Nutmeg’s hair. Her hair changes color and has a different smell everytime she cleans it. Today, it smelled of roses.

Despite the beautiful display in front of his eyes, Orion was still distracted by something. He felt that something was going to happen, a disruption in the flow of the ocean of the ruins. Marina felt it too, but she wasn’t as quick to react as he was. He rushed out, feeling that there was something wrong.
He heard a familiar sound that cried for help. He rushed in that direction, hoping to help whoever was in danger. He was shocked to discover that some sharks were hurting a weak little dolphin. He was so angry that he rammed the lead black tip shark without thinking of the consequences.
The dolphin rushed off as the sharks surrounded him. The leader’s 1st associate, a white tip shark, rammed him with his tail, leaving a harsh scratch mark from his rough skin. The other sharks didn’t really want to pull the fight out any longer so they swam off, brushing past him with their rough skin scratching him. One of the Thresher sharks had a tail that was so sharp and stiff that it cut his shoulder like a harpoon. He saw the blood slowly pour out, but he wasn’t bothered by it, at least not yet. He then heard the dreadful laughter of Adam, the merman servant of Hades, in his head and suddenly everything got black...
He slowly woke up, and despite his shoulder wound, he returned to the ballet, hoping that the sharks hadn’t gotten there already. Shakily, he swam back with Oceana close behind. He saw the sharks, and said to himself, ‘These are no ordinary sharks.’ He shouted at them as the silver crystal inside of him lit up the stage and the sharks were knocked back to their sense and swam off in bitter confusion. There was no doubt that Adam or Dragoonas inflicted a dark spell onto them to pit them against Orion to slow him down.

He was exhausted, but luckily, Melanie healed the wound on his shoulder; the sisters thanked him for saving their lives. He looked around, realizing that Misty was missing. In the midst of that small victory, he heard a deafening scream.
