"Keeping It Calm"
Mood:  happy
This Season the Dearborn Varsity Soccer team came together to not only form a team, but also a family. The Chemistry between the girls was incredible, proving that anything can be achieved when people work together. The season started off slow with losses to Stevenson, Northville and Franklin. Bouncing back, the Pioneers opened the Mega Red League with 7 consecutive wins, until the Devastating loss to Trenton. The 4 following games, included the win over Crestwood put the "W"s in the record book to end the regular season. The Mega Red Championship was also claimed with an overall leauge record 11-1. Districts opened by Dearborn pummeling Lincoln Park (5-0) and Garden City (3-1). The final game of Districts was played againts Livonia Franklin, a team the pioneers had lost to earlier in their season. History did not repeat itself, and with the (1-0) win Dearborn again took home the District Championship. The girls were now on their way to regionals where they would play, Canton. The team was ready to play, with a tie of (0-0) ending the first half, it looked like a pretty well matched game. Then Junior Lauren Imsande booted one in to make the score (1-0). The score lasted about 40 minutes, until one of Canton's seniors placed one in the back of the net with 2 minutes left in the game. It wasn't long until Dearborn got their heads down and Canton managed to score another goal with 30 seconds left. With a defistating lost, the girl overwhelmed their tears with laughter on the bus ride home. Senior Kim Gurley a prominent part of the team agreed "It has been amazing playing with all these girls, they're like sisters to me." Defensive player Sarah Barnes leaves a closing statement, "3 Mega Red Championships, Back to back Districts, Keep it up girls."
