Chris Wilson Biography"E
My name is Chris Wilson and I currently live and work in Phoenix, Arizona. I work on contract for an eclectic group of people now, but am moving my business into the e-learning arena with the help of the University of Phoenix Masters in Adult Education and Distance Learning, very nearly acquired now. I have, however, been long involved with cyber-society and fascinated with the ether and technology in general. My philosophy is that life is all about growth and cyberspace education is a very fertile medium indeed.
I have graphic design experience, but web design and multimedia production for web-based courses is new. Please click here to view my first attempt at inserting (and finding!) digital video. Someday, I'm determined that will be a file of my own.
I've taken several paths both professionally and academically. My BFA is from the University of Buffalo with a focus in printmaking and painting. I later created and maintained my own graphic design firm, where I was lead designer and bottle-washer for a number of years. There was never a dull moment in that environment, especially when computer technology became almost imperative to the field. To my tremendous surprise, I found I loved computers almost as much as I did art. Today, I’m returning to that activity from a different perspective in my hope to create web-based instruction.
My minor at the Bachelor's level was in International Studies and while I was a student, I also worked for that interdisciplinary department. My fascination with people and cultures first developed as I grew up in the military and had the opportunity to live in Japan, Hawaii and most of the geographic sections of the US. I travel every chance I have and have relocated more times than I can count. One of my favorite activities is meeting and talking with UOP students all over the globe.
A third interest of mine is in alternative health, particularly as it applies to mental health. Most recently I've been working on contract assisting practitioners and therapists with practices that include a variety of alternative methods, putting all that bottle-washing experience to good use. In the process, I've learned much about working almost exclusively in a virtual environment as well as about remarkable new directions in the health field. Learning web design seemed like a natural extension to this and my earlier experience, and I do this on contract as well.

Don't I wish... One unusual characteristic of my work is that it is done almost entirely virtually. I'm also, of course, an online student. I have never met many of my clients and colleagues face to face, and we've grown used to this phenomenon. Taking full advantage of this I might as well use an image my "International Lady of Mystery" persona seems to call for.
