Below is unusual facts I have collected about Wolves, please send me your trivia if you would like to add to this page or correct me on anything!

14th September 1891, the first penalty kick in League Football was granted to Wolverhampton Wanderers who were playing Accrington.

Abandoned Match, Wolves were involved in the shortest game on record when playing Stoke in a blizzard in 1894. Only 400 supporters braved the conditions and the referee Mr Helme called the match off after just three minutes!

The first Wolves player to score a hat-trick in the Football League was Harry Wood on the 3rd November 1888 against Derby County.

Wolves worst start to a season was in 1983-84. They went 14 matches without a win, drawing four and losing ten of the opening fixtures. The run ended with a 3-1 win over West Brom at the Hawthornes on 26th November 1983.

The oldest player to play in the Wolves first team is Lawrie Madden. He was 37 years 222 days old when he played his last game for the club on the 8th May 1993, which they lost 2-0 away to Derby County.
The youngest player to play in the Wolves first team is Jimmy Mullen. He was 16 years 43 days old when he played in a First Division match against Leeds Utd at Molineux on the 18th February 1939. Wolves won 4-1.
During the Second World War, Cameron Buchanan was just 14 years 57 days old when he played against West Brom on 26th September 1942 at Molineux, Wolves won 2-0.

Wolves first appearance on the BBC's Match of the Day was on the 14th November 1964 when they beat Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux 3-1. Wharton, Crawford and Le Flem got the goals.

The first ever substitute for Wolves was Fred Goodwin, he came on for Ernie Hunt against Middlesbrough at Molineux on the 16th October 1967.

When Peter Knowles headed a goal for Wolves at Portsmouth on the 25th February 1967, he was so delighted that he kicked the ball over the stand and out of the Fratton Park ground. It was not retrieved and Knowles later received a bill, which he paid, for £7 10 shillings (£7.50) from Portsmouth, demanding the cost of a new one. Wolves won the match 3-2 and Knowles's goal was the winner!

One of the fastest own goals in the Football League occurred on the 4th February 1933 when Alf Young, the Huddersfield Town full-back, scored past his own keeper after just a few seconds of the match at Molineux. Before the first minute of the game had been played, the Yorkshire club equalised but Wolves went on to win 6-4.
