Team News

Match preview from www.skysports.com:

Reading striker Nicky Forster admits he will find it difficult to watch from the stands after being ruled out of the Division One play-off clash with Wolves.
Forster suffered an ankle injury during the semi-final first leg and will not recover in time for the return leg as the Royals look to overturn a 2-1 deficit.
"I'm gutted to be honest," admitted Forster. "There's so much to play for in this game.
"I knew straight away when I went over that it was a bad one. Jon Fearn (physio) came over and asked me to stand on it but I knew I'd done it badly and pretty quickly he knew as well."
"I'm sure it's a bigger blow for me personally than it is for the team because we've got the squad to cope," he told the Berkshire club's website.

The loss of Forster - who has netted 10 goals since the middle of February - means Jamie Cureton is expected to start up front, although Darius Henderson and Martin Butler are also pushing for a starting role.
The Royals are at least boosted by the news that on-loan Burnley winger Glen Little is back in contention after recovering from illness.
Steve Brown is expected to feature despite breaking his nose in the first leg but Nathan Tyson is suspended following his sending off.

Dave Jones claims his Wolves players are "a pain in the backside" - but it has been the secret of their success.
He said: "Why be so blinkered as to believe what you do is always right?
"The input from a lot of the players has been invaluable to us as a football club because they're the ones out there running around and if there's a problem or something you've not seen then there's no harm in somebody passing an opinion.
"I think you have to be quite open and I've done that throughout my career as a manager.
"This is my third club as a manager, I've been a manager six or seven years, and I think you've got to listen to what players have to say.
"That's good and I'd rather be dealing with those sorts of people than people who just go with the flow and don't do anything. All of my players are like that here and it's a pain in the backside sometimes."

Injury Update

Wolves are hoping to have a fully fit squad for their play-off second leg at The Madejski Stadium on Wednesday.
Kenny Miller, Shaun Newton and Joleon Lescott all trained at Molineux this morning, but Paul Butler had to sit it out.

Miller was substituted when someone caught his ankle as the players were all congratulating Lee Naylor, he received treatment at the side of the pitch and would have been fine to go back on, but boss Dave Jones wanted to get back to having 11 men on the pitch and decided to bring on Sturridge.

Butler was stretchered off on Saturday with a knee injury and went for an x-ray which showed that there’s no crack. They will now have that x-ray examined in more depth to see what damage has been done, if any, and hope to know more by tomorrow.

Lescott trained without any problems, and Newton is now over his migraine.

Match Reaction

Wolves boss Dave Jones has praised his side's mental resilience after they came from behind to secure a 2-1 play-off victory over Reading at Molineux.
The hosts had fallen behind to Nicky Forster's first-half strike before defender Graeme Murty deflected a Shaun Newton shot into his own net 15 minutes from time and defender Lee Naylor stepped up to blast home an 84th-minute free-kick winner.

Jones said: "We were behind in the game so we needed to dig deep and we did that, we showed mental strength.
"In the last 30 minutes we really got a grip on the game but we always felt Reading started at a tempo they wouldn't be able to sustain.
"We knew we were not playing well but even at 1-0 down at half-time we knew if we kept knocking on the door, we would get the result.
"So we showed we were fit and had the mental toughness to do the job and I'm pleased to come away with a win after being 1-0 down.
"But all we've done at this stage is get our noses in front at the halfway stage and that's the way I'm looking at it."

Countdown To The Play-offs

Injury Update: Lee Naylor should be fit for Saturday’s first leg, after suffering a toe injury before the break in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City. He received immediate treatment and is now just waiting for the toe to heal.
Joleon Lescott is battling to be fit for Saturday after he was forced out of Sunday’s draw with Leicester because of a knee injury he picked up in training, only the third game he has missed all season. Lescott had a scan on Saturday and boss Dave Jones said on WOW: "It’s a little too early yet to predict whether or not Jo is going to be available to face Reading.
"He’s obviously not training at the moment but is undergoing treatment and hopefully all will be well. We will be monitoring the situation throughout the week."
Mark Clyde is definitely ruled out, he is recovering from surgery to his knee to remove scar tissue.

Match Reaction

Dave Jones declared his Wolves side ready and eager for the Division One play-offs after they ended their league season with a draw at home to already-promoted Leicester.
The Molineux outfit took their unbeaten run to nine games, although they were disappointed to be denied victory by a late equaliser from the penalty spot by Trevor Benjamin.
With none of the play-off quartet winning, Wolves now face Reading in next Saturday's semi-final first leg and Jones said: "It was just a case of seeing out the day.
"We didn't want anyone seriously injured or sent off but I saw a lot of good signs from my players that they are 'at it'.
"I had a go at them last weekend but I was pleased with the attitude today. We felt last year when we went into the play-offs that we had lost something and we were running on empty.
"This time, once automatic promotion had gone, the play-offs became our secondary aim and we reached them comfortably.
"We have not really wanted to play the last two games but the fans have geared themselves up today and we want Molineux to be a cauldron of noise next weekend."

Player Of The Year

Joleon Lescott was voted the Player of the Year by fans at Molineux, voting slips were given out at the ground, but next season you may be able to vote online.
Lescott picked up the trophy from Sir Jack Hayward after this afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Leicester, which he missed through injury. Goalkeeper Matt Murray was named Young Player of the Year.

Boss Dave Jones said on WOW: “Both lads deserve these accolades.
“Jo has had a very consistent season. He is still only a youngster but regularly puts in very mature performances. He’s been a real asset to the team this season.
“After all the set-backs he’s suffered, Matt has taken his chance well. In a very short time he went from being a reserve team player to establishing himself as the club’s number one keeper.
“The performances of both players have earned them recognition in the England under 21 set up. They’ve had a great season and now it’s up to them to show they can carry on improving.”

Awards were also presented to Paul Ince and Denis Irwin by representatives of the Premier League. Both players were voted into the teams of the decade.

They are a doing a Wolves version of Hey Baby, the chart hit by DJ Otzi, and the lyrics to the song, called 'Hey Jonesy', are set to become football stand chants if the team is successful in its Premiership bid this season.

Bully said: "I am only on the backing vocals but I wanted to get behind the song because anything that can help the team do well is worth it.
"Last season I was really confident on how they were playing but I don't want to tempt fate this time by saying they'll go up, I just hope that this song helps," he said.

The lyrics to 'Hey Jonesy':

Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League
Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League

We all know that it's been too long
Since we've been where we belong
But now we know it's our time once more
When we hear that famous Molineux roar

Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League
Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League

The disappointments we've had to take
We have suffered enough heartbreak
Believe us Jonesy this is our year
And now we know and now we know

It's time to repay our loyalty
With trips to Anfield and Highbury
This time Jonesy we know it's our year
when DJ's Gold and Black Army cheer

Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League
Hey Jonesy...We wanna go to the Premier League

The CD, priced £2.99, will be on sale at the BBC shop in the Merry Hill Centre from 3rd May when the foursome will be signing autographs. It is also available through mail order on 01384 572860.
