Epilogue

When Latoya turned her back to put in her earrings for a quick second in her bedroom, Eva and Ava toddled off into the hallway from standing by her bed. The fraternal twins who have been walking since nine months, loved to test their legs and walk everywhere. Their mommy dressed them in their pink summer dresses and sandals. Both had their hair in single ponytails, Ava with her dark and wavy hair and Eva with her sandy, dark blonde hair. The two made their way to the safety gate by the stairs. Their mother felt something was awry and turned to look at her babies who she finally finished dressing for their first birthday party since today was August 18th.

"Eva? Ava? Where are you two?" she called out in her room. Eva had a way of leading her sister into mischievousness. She did a quick view of her room and noticed her open room door. She made her way into the hall and saw her two girls standing by the gate, trying to see how to move down the stairs. Latoya decided to be quiet and watch what they were going to do to the locked safety gate.

Ava looked up and saw her mommy. Her blue eyes glistened and she turned to Eva and spoke her gibberish to her. It must have been a no because Eva quickly looked up with her hazel eyes and smiled her dimpled smile at her mother. She always thought that her smile would get her over with her mother but it only worked with Justin. "Mama," she smiled and flashed her four teeth.

"Where are my birthday girls?" Justin called out from the bottom of the stairs.

"Dada! Dada!" The two girls squealed and clapped when seeing their father climb the stairs.

"Back up you two. Let Daddy open the gate. Oh my gosh don't you three look stunning. Miss Ava and Miss Eva are working it." Justin commented and he kneeled down to make silly faces at his girls.

"Your girls were trying to go down the stairs," Latoya added. "Looks like we are ready to go. You take one, I'll take the other." Justin lifted Eva and Latoya placed Ava on her hip and the four made their way into Latoya's backyard where her, Josh's and Justin's families were waiting to celebrate Ava and Eva's birthday.

"Happy Birthday!!" The crowd called out at the children. The girls hid their faces in their parents' chests bashfully.

"Hey now baby bears," JC rubbed his daughter's backs. "This is your big day. You two can't hide now."

"Dada?" Eva asked JC.

"Yes. Come let's look at your cake. Look your grandmas and grandpas are here!" The two girls leapt into their slender father's arms.

"So Mrs. Soon-to-be Kirkpatrick, we survived a year of diapers and spit up and tears and fevers and near heart attacks," Justin placed an arm around her shoulders and squeezed. "When are you and Chris going to have some more? Ava and Eva need some playmates."

"It's a lucky thing Chris and I are getting married next month," Latoya smirked.

"Why is that?"

"Cause in eight months Eva and Ava are going to be big sisters."

Chris flicked Justin's arm off of his fiancée's shoulders, "You have your own girl, Timberlake." He hugged her and smiled. "Did you tell him about well you know?" Chris asked nervously.

Justin flicked Chris in the forehead. "Yes she did. Congratulations Elf. Didn't know your kind could procreate."

Chris quickly kissed Latoya and jumped on his friend's back. "You take that back." The two began to wrestle on the grass.

Latoya smiled. She looked her ring and at her daughters, who were wowing family members. She watched JC jump in to help his husband and all three of them wrestle. She smirked and held her hand over her flat tummy, "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into, kid."
