Conclusion
Schools. Dorm rooms. Police offices. Rave parties and dance
clubs. What do all these have in common? The use of flourescent
and black lights.
Flourescent lights are used to light dorms and schools, and
any other place where it's necessary to have long-lasting lights
that won't blow out as quickly as halogen lighting.
Black lights can be a lot of fun. I used to have one on my wall
to make my posters glow. I would hold it up to my face and my
eyes would appear to be hollow. After doing research for this
project, however, I now understand that black lights are also extremely
useful. They can be used to detect fraud by viewing a strip on a $20
bill or an insignia on a credit card. At a theme park, if a
person wants to leave and then reenter, they can be used to see an
"invisible" stamp on the person's hand. The uses of black lights
are innumerable.
There is a lot to learn and know about black lights. The research
that our group has done has led to a lot of valuable conclusions
about how black lights function, both in terms of their physics
and in terms of their numerous and varied purposes.
