More about Mac?
I love Mac. [If you don't have one, you may ask why ]. Especially with the new iMac coming out....I'd do anything to get one...and a new Beetle, of course.

Can I run Unix on a Mac?
Yes, sure. Besides spending some huge amount of $$$ to get an emulator, I would strongly suggest you look into the free LinuxPPC! Yes, it's free, and it works wonderfully. If you don't want to download the whole 300MB+ of files, you can purchase a CD. To find out more, check out the LinuxPPC Homepage.

And now, with the introduction of OSX, there's going to be more fun using the Mac. Check out the Mac Products Guide from Apple.

My Humble Macs
My 1st Mac was a IIsi that I got from college...not bad at all. It was running well for >5 years until the power supply died on me. When I first got this Mac, I immediately purchased an Opcode Midi-translator and a Yamaha keyboard. (If you're interested in midi, you can refer to my Midi page.

Because of my wedding, I bought a factory refurbished Performa 6300CD with built-in 28.8Kbps [of course that disabled my modem port which I need for my midi] and a 48x CD ROM drive, 1.2G Hard Disk and 16M RAM. Needless to say, all my webstuff is done on this Mac. I've also printed wedding invitations, church programs, written a FoxPro database program for wedding planning and printed out great reports on my Epson Stylus II. I've also used my Mac to keep track of my finances thru Quicken. I just can't do anything without my Mac!

Then comes the deal...when you can trade-in your old Mac for a new PowerPC...I wanted to trade in my Performa...but just when I was heading out to the shop, I found this reasonably priced power-supply for my IIsi.... so I ended up trading it in for my new PowerPC 7300.

So I brought my Performa to my 70-year-old father and hooked it up for him. Now he's using the internet! Surprising? Not really...I downloaded the Orient Express from UniDoc and immediately turned the System into a Chinese OS! All the menu are in Chinese now. I can even email my dad....way cool!

Well, as time goes by, we went onto a different phase: parenthood!!! So, the first thing we did when we found out we were having a baby was to upgrade our computer. We got ourselves a Flower Power iMac (450MHz, CDRW, 20G HD, 256M RAM), with an Epson i777 printer. Then we bought a DV. With the help of iMovie and Toast Titanium, we're now able to videotape our precious daughter and make VCDs and send them to the grandparents.
