Making Your Hair Color Last

There are several things you can do to maximize your newly colored locks so that the color remains deep and vibrant as long as possible.

There are several techniques you can try for coloring:
  1. Select the hair coloring product that is most compatible with your life style. If you don't have time to redo your roots every 3-4 weeks, you may want to select a hair color shade that is only 1-3 shades lighter than your natural color. The closer you go to your natural haircolor, the less your roots will show as they grow out. When your roots are less obvious, your hair color will last longer before you have to touch up your roots. Always select the type of coloring product that is easiest for you to maintain.
  2. Apply a deep conditioning treatment to your hair a few days before coloring. The better conditioned your hair is, the easier the color will take and the longer it will last. Recently conditioned hair will also be softer and shinier. As an extra bonus, a deep conditioner will protect your hair against any possible damage from the color chemicals.
  3. Color hair that has not been washed for 1 day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair color application more successful. The color will cling better to hair that is not dry.
  4. Use a color enhancing shampoo between applications to enhance and maintain the color. The color shampoos like henara and henne, are specifically designed to keep your color fresh as long as possible. Be sure to use the color shampoos religiously to maintain your color. The color shampoos will help you keep your color looking good until it is time for the next application. If you don't wish to use a color enhancing shampoo then at least use the most gentle shampoo that you can.
  5. Keep your hair conditioned. Hair coloring will make your hair drier than normal. It is important to keep your hair conditioned and soft. Conditioned hair holds color better than dry, brittle or damaged hair. Conditioned hair also makes the colored hair shinier and brighter.
  6. Add a temporary color to give you longer wear. There are several wonderful temporary hair colors now available on the market that will give your hair a temporary color what washes out after a few shampoos. If the roots seem to be growing out a lot faster than normal, or the color looks a little faded, use a temporary color such as Loving Care as shown below and on our products page. This is until your next permanent color application.

How to take good care of hair

  1. Hair should be kept clean always [ Tangling occures when hair accumulates dirt or sweat ]. At least wash hair once or twice a week with cold or luke-warm clean water. Wash hair immediately after swimming, exercising, spa etc.
  2. When you want to wash hair, fill a basin with cool or luke-warm clean water and add a dash of conditioning shampoo.
  3. Soak hair for a couple of minutes and then wash it gently. Always wash hair in one direction in an upright position. Squeeze the conditioner with shampoo from top to bottom. Rinse and comb hair thoroughly with clean cold or luke-warm water. You can apply extra conditioner and comb or finger - comb the hair while the conditioner is on and rinse it with clean cold or luke-warm water again. NOTE: It is not advisable to brush hair when it is wet !!!.
  4. Let the hair dry naturally at room temperature. When hair is dry you can brush/comb hair after each wash daily. When brushing the hair, please start from the bottom and work your way up, slowly to the top while holding the weft with the other hand to keep it from shedding.
  5. Cover hair when swimming to prevent the hair from chlorine which may cause the hair to tangle. When you go to the spa, brush hair out completely and wrap hair in a cold wet towel.
  6. Form a habit of untangling the hair and making like two big braids before sleeping, exercising or swiming. Please NEVER SLEEP ON WET HAIR. Make sure your hair is completely dried before going to bed.
  7. Dilute the the conditioner (15% - 20%) with water (80% - 85%) to prevent dryness of the hair when you wash the hair. On a daily basis use light hair oil on wet hair.
  8. For Variety, perming and dyeing are recommended to professional stylist only, DO NOT use curling iron or curling kits. Do not expose hair to excessive heat. Remember do not brush hair when it is wet. However it is advisable not to apply any other extra process to the hair because it is already a processed hair.
  9. It is advisable to wet wavy or curly hair every morning with conditioner mixed with water as recommended in #7 above. Use braid sheen, moisturizing lotion, hair oil etc to prevent hair from dryness.
