Overview

I knew that S400 and BJC-3000 were nearly the same printers. In fact there are only two minor differences between those two models. The main difference is the USB ID.
Considering this fact, I thought it should be possible to use existing S400 drivers with BJC-3000.
This is what I did and it works great.

As it was not possible to easily modify the USB ID on the printer, I decided to change it directly in the S400 driver. I used HexEdit to view the files used by S400 printer driver and then noticed many Canon Printer's Name. I looked for "BJC-3000" string and found it. Then I looked for "S400" and also found it. At this point I was sure it was possible to use these files to drive my BJC-3000. And I did it...

This driver is now fully compliant with Mac OS X from 10.1 to 10.2.4. This is certainly the best solution to print with you BJC-3000 and Mac OS X. Considering quality printing, the results are far better than with Gimp-Print.

The only backdraw is that you can't use BJ Printer Utility natively in OS X. You will have to install Classic Drivers and launch Printer Utility in Classic.

Since March 2002 first release, this driver has been downloaded more than 5,000 times on VersionTracker.com and it is rated 4.9/5 stars by users.
