Chapter 8

Christine was in the guest room she was staying in putting on her lipstick when Taylor stuck his head in the door. “Ready?” he asked.

“Just about” Christine answered. “Come on in.” It was the next night and they were planning on going to the bar with Ike and his girlfriend Carry.

“Wow, you look great” he said after getting a good look at her. She was wearing tight fitting, charcoal gray pants and a baby blue, short-sleeved button up shirt. She had let her hair go wavy, and pulled it half back. ‘She looks perfect’ he thought to himself.

“You look great too” Christine told him. ‘Like an angel’ she thought to herself as she stared at this beautiful human being that was her boyfriend in front of her. He was wearing cargo khakis and a tight fitting red T-shirt. Of course every strand of his hair was perfect, his bangs just barely dangling in his eyes that stood out so bright and sparkly in the dimly lit room.

Christine crossed the room to him and draped her arms around his neck breathing in his intoxicating smell. She recognized the smell to as aspen cologne remembering once she had told him it was her favorite. She smiled at the fact that he would actually go out in buy it just for her.

He placed a lingering kiss on her lips. Christine marveled at the taste of him. It seemed to get better and better each time. “Okay, I’m ready now. All I needed was a kiss,” she said smiling.

“Well lets get going then. We’re supposed to meet them soon.” Taylor took her hand as he led her out the door.

At the bar Christine and Taylor found Ike and Carry already sitting at a table in the corner, and they made their way over to them.

“Do you want us to get you something to drink?” Ike asked as they settled into their seats.

“Get me whatever kind of beer you’re drinking” Taylor told him.

They both looked at Christine. “No thanks, I don’t really like beer” she said.

“Are you sure. There’s plenty more than just beer” Ike said.

“Well” she thought about it. It wasn’t like she was against drinking; it just wasn’t something she did often. “I guess you could get me a wine cooler.”

“Great, we’ll get that be right back” Ike told them, and he and Carry left to go get the drinks.

“I’m sorry, you didn’t have to get anything if you didn’t want it” Taylor apologized immediately. “Ike just thinks everyone under 21 is just itching for alcohol because he was, and never had an older sibling to buy for him.”

Christine laughed. “Well I was just worried about how we’re going to get home if both of us have something to drink” she explained.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. I never have more than one, and I’m sure we’ll be here for longer than an hour after I finish” Taylor told her.

“Well then, problem solved” she smiled.

Later on in the evening Carry was at another table talking with friends, and Taylor excused himself to the bathroom leaving Christine and Ike at the table by themselves.

“Well, I don’t know how you do it, but whatever it is you’re doing to him keep it up. Tay has never been so happy as he has the past couple months” Ike told her.

“Well, I would if I knew myself what I’m doing” she joked.

“Well then, just keep being yourself. This is the longest relationship he’s ever been in before unless you count that one girl he saw for five months but cheated on the entire time, which I don’t. But seriously, he’s completely whipped” Ike told her.

“He hasn’t said it thought” Christine said.

“Said what?” he asked.

“That he loves me” she answered.

“Taylor has never said that to any girl. He’s far too insecure about himself to do something like that. He won’t just go out on a limb just in case he’d make a fool out of himself” Ike explained. “Have you said it to him?”

“Well, no” Christine answered.

“And do you love him?” he asked.

“Yes, I do” she said.

“Well then tell him, and I bet he’ll say it back” he advised.

“But what if he doesn’t? Then I’m the one making a fool out of myself,” Christine said.

“No you won’t, you’ll be telling him how you feel, and letting him know just how much you care. Besides I highly doubt he won’t say it back. He loves you, he’s told me. In fact he said he’s tried to tell you, but the words just don’t come out. I think all he needs is that extra push from you” Ike explained.

“Well, maybe” she said thinking about it.
