Chapter 9
“Goodnight baby” Taylor said standing in Christine’s doorway that night.
“Wait, can you come in for a minute?” she asked. “I haven’t given you your Christmas gift yet.”
“Well I suppose I’ll take it now, if you don’t mind waiting a couple days for your” Taylor told her.
“Oh, and what’s that supposed to mean?” she asked.
“I guess you’ll have to wait and see” he answered taking a seat on the bed.
Christine reached into her bag and pulled out a small wrapped package. She brought it back and sat on the edge of the bed next to Taylor handing it to him.
He gave her a little kidish grin as he took the present and tore into it. Inside a little black box there was a single earring she had had made for him. It was a small silver hoop with a blue stone ball and a turquoise stone ball on it.
“Wow, I love it. It’s both of our birthstones,” he said.
“Well, I don’t know if I’ve ever told you how much I love that earring of yours” she said kissing his ear and fingering the one he had in at the time. “So, I thought I’d personalize it.”
“Thank you so much, I’ll never take it out,” Taylor said grinning.
“Merry Christmas” she told him.
“Merry Christmas baby, I feel like I’m in paradise” he sang in a silly voice to get her laughing.
Christine smiled and pulled Taylor into a kiss. Taylor cupped his hands around her face, and Christine sifted her fingers through his hair as the kiss intensified.
Christine pulled away with her eyes still closed. When she opened them Taylor’s perfect blue eyes were staring deep into her own. Ike’s advice laid heavily on her mind. She did it without thinking.
“I love you” she breathed. There was a slight pause, their eyes never breaking the concentration.
“I love you too” he finally whispered.
Their lips met again, and like a lighting bolt, emotion surged through both of them. Taylor pushed Christine back on the bed and climbed on top of her placing kisses all over her face. His hands roamed her body, her face, her hair, her sides, her thighs; but showed no signs of trying to take advantage of her.
As Christine furiously kissed Taylor back she ran her fingers over his bare stomach and chest. Once or twice her mind wondered back to the last time there were in the same position and what he had tried to do. But, she felt a strange calming sense. She knew after everything they’d been through he wouldn’t do it again.
After quite a while they both pulled away breathlessly. Christine curled up against Taylor and closed her eyes. Taylor contently lay with her and ran his fingers through her hair until she fell asleep.
