Chapter 6

Christine and Taylor’s relationship grew over the next couple months. They talked on the phone two or three times a week about anything and everything. They grew very close, and they both couldn’t be happier.

One day in December while Christine was studying for her finals her phone rang. Relieved to have a break she answered it, “Hello.”

“Hey babe” she heard Taylor’s now familiar voice.

“Hi” she said enthusiastically.

“I though I’d give you a break from studying” he told her.

“How did you know I was studying?” she asked.

“I’m psychic” he joked.

“Seriously” she laughed.

“Well, its about all you’ve talked about for the past week or so. I guess I just figured. I wanted to make sure you were being a good girl and doing what you were supposed to be” he explained.

“Of course I am, but a phone call from you is a welcomed break” Christine told him.

“So tell me, that sounds like music playing in the background. Would you do a thing like listen to music while studying?” Taylor asked.

“Yep” she said.

“What are you listening to anyway?” he asked.

“Um…N’sync” she mumbled.

“Hey, no girlfriend of mine should be listening to them. No wonder it didn’t sound good. They aren’t even popular anymore anyway” Taylor was joking around, but Christine didn’t hear much of what he was saying. Taylor had just called her his girlfriend. They had never talked about before. She couldn’t believe it. “Christine, are you there?” Taylor asked when she wasn’t responding.

“Oh sorry I was thinking about something, did you just call me your girlfriend?” she asked.

“Yeah, of course. I mean, I know we never talked about it officially, but I want to be with you. I guess I assumed you felt the same way,” he said quietly.

Christine didn’t know how to answer. “Oh Taylor, I miss you so much,” she said instead with tear filled eyes and voice. It wasn’t exactly related to what he had last said, but it still conveyed her feelings and emotions.

“I know, I miss you to baby, but just think, only 16 more days and we’ll be together” Taylor said wanting to stay on the positive side of things.

“Really, only that long? I guess that doesn’t seem too bad when you put it that way” Christine told him.

“I know, I can’t wait,” he said excitedly.

“Me neither” she agreed.

“Just a minute Christine” Taylor said. She heard him talking to someone else, she assumed it was Zac. “I’m sorry, I have to go now. Zac is claiming we have something to do, even though I don’t think so” he told her in a somewhat exasperated tone.

“Oh, its okay” Christine understood. Stuff like that came up sometimes.

“Alright, you get back to your studying and I’ll call you in a day or two” he told her.

“Okay, talk to you later” she said.

“Christine.”

“Hmm?” she asked. There was a little pause.

“Oh, nothing, I’ll talk to you later.” They hung up their phones.

Christine turned back to her books, but found it impossible to work. She was completely elated. Taylor had called her his girlfriend. He had said he wanted to be with her. Christine wanted nothing more than to be with him too. Not only that, but they would finally be together in just a short time. All she had to do was get those damn exams out of the way.

She glanced at her books one more time, and made a final decision against them. She couldn’t help herself. She went and found Jen and Kendra watching TV in den. “Hey guys, studying hard I see” she joked.

“Taking a much needed break” Jen explained.

“Ah, me too” Christine agreed.

“So, who was on the phone?” Kendra asked.

“Taylor” Christine told her.

“Figures” Jen said laughing.

“Guess what, you guys are officially looking at Taylor Hanson’s girlfriend” Christine said, not able to hold in her happiness any longer.

“Really? You guys talked about it?” Jen asked.

“No, actually he just came out with it and called me his girlfriend. Oh my god, I didn’t think it was possible to be this happy” Christine told him.

“That is too cool. Congratulations girl” Kendra said.
