Chapter 5
A few days later Christine walked into her apartment after class one afternoon to the sound of the phone ringing. “Hello” she said after rushing to the phone and picking it up.
“Is Christine there?” she heard a somewhat familiar voice.
“This is,” she said.
“Oh Christine, this is Taylor. I’m gonna have to learn your voice” he said.
“Oh hi Taylor. You have a thing for calling the second I walk in the door” she told him.
“Really? Good timing on my part I suppose” he bragged again.
“Maybe, but you could have at least given me a minute or two to catch my breath” she joked as she headed back to her bedroom with the cordless. A grin was finding its way onto her face. Just hearing Taylor’s voice made her smile. It also made her heartbeat fast, and her stomach do flip-flops.
“Well, I wouldn’t want to give you any sort of break” Taylor teased her back.
“Oh don’t worry, I don’t get many breaks without your help” she told him. “School is enough to drive me insane right now. And there’s no end to it for a long time.”
“When is your next break anyway?” he asked.
“Well, I have a four day weekend for Thanksgiving, but other than that there’s nothing until Christmas” Christine explained.
“Oh man, I wish I could see you before then, but I don’t think it’ll work out. We have an incredibly hectic schedule the next two months, and then we go back to Tulsa for a much needed break sometime in the beginning of December” he told her.
“Well, I know it seems like a long ways away, but we can always see each other over Christmas. That is, if you want to see me” Christine said.
“Of course I’ll want to see you. I miss you. My lips are feeling neglected” Taylor told her.
“Hmm, I don’t know if I should be happy you aren’t kissing anyone else, or mad that you miss me because you miss kissing me,” she said.
“No, that’s not what I mean” Taylor insisted. He was used to saying flirty things like that, but he knew he had to change. “I really miss you. I already took the time to ask my parents if you could ever visit. We’ll be home through New Years, so they said you could visit anytime.”
“Great, I’ll be off for three and a half weeks, so I can spend half of the time with my family and half of the time with you” Christine stated her plan. Soon Taylor’s mistake was completely forgotten.

“Christine, what are we doing for dinner?” Kendra said coming into her room while she was still on the phone with Taylor.
“Dinner, but its only” she looked at the clock, “Oh my gosh, is almost 6. Did you know we’ve been on the phone for two hours Taylor?” she asked.
“Oh no, are you serious? I’m late for something then” Taylor told her.
“Yeah, I better get going too,” Christine said.
“I’ll call you again in a couple days alright?” he asked.
“Okay, talk to you then” she agreed. Christine hung up the phone and looked towards Kendra standing at the door with a smug look on her face.
“So that’s why you’ve been hold up here so long” Kendra stated.
“I swear, I had no idea it was this long. Time flies when you’re having fun I guess” Christine joked.
“So, what’s he like anyway?” Kendra asked.
“What do you mean?” Christine didn’t quite understand. “He’s just a really friendly guy that I happen to like. He’s really fun to be around.”
“So, is he a good kisser?” Kendra asked.
“Leave it to you to ask that” Christine stated with a mischievous grin on her face.
“That’s not answering my question” Kendra said.
“Fine, yes he is a good kisser, really good in fact. It just kind of makes me nervous because he’s so much more ‘experienced’ than me if you know what I mean” Christine let on to her only worries.
“Well obviously that doesn’t matter to him. He must really like you if he’s taking two hours out of his busy schedule just to talk to you on the phone” Kendra pointed out.
“I suppose you’re right, miss logical” Christine agreed.
“As always” Kendra joked. “Now come on. Jen and I want to go to dinner.”
