Chapter 15

Christine and Taylor spent the week at Christine’s house doing nothing but relaxing. They often found themselves lying on the couch together watching TV or just lounging in each other’s arms.

At one point they were both in Christine’s room looking at her different pictures and other mementos from her days as a high school cheerleader. “You were so cute,” Taylor said holding up a picture of Christine in her uniform with her hair in pigtails.

“Were?” she asked.

“Well, of course you still are, but there’s just something about that tight little skirt” he told her wiggling his eyebrows. “You don’t still have it do you?”

“Nope, we turned those uncomfortable things in for the next group thankfully,” she said laughing. “There is no way you’d catch me dead in one of them anymore.”

“Darn” Taylor said laughing, and then there was a few minutes of silence. “I wish I had known you back then” he finally broke it with a soft voice.

“Why, so you could have seen me in my skirt?” she asked.

“No, that’s not it at all. I wish I could have known you my whole life. I can’t help but feel I missed out on something the first 19 years of my life because I didn’t know you. You’re such a wonderful person, and you’ve made me become a better person, and I love you so much” he told her, his voice full of emotion.

“I love you too Taylor” Christine said tears stinging in her eyes. She was shocked by his confession. She knew that he loved her, but she hadn’t known how far his love extended. What he had said was the sweetest thing she had ever been told, and it convinced her of his true feelings.

There was another pause in which Taylor and Christine stared into each other’s eyes. They were both brimming with tears. “And I’ve missed you so much” Christine added in a whisper.

“What?” Taylor asked not understanding what she meant.

“This whole semester at school. I’ve missed you so much” the words and the tears tumbled out faster and faster. “I can’t seem to do anything but think about you and how much I miss you. Its makes me so depressed I don’t even want to get out of bed in the morning. I hate this, I hate having to live without right there for me” she was crying so hard she was almost hysterical by then.

“Baby, come here” Taylor said pulling her into a tight hug. She pressed her face into his chest and sobbed. “You know I’m always there for you. Whenever you need me I’m only a phone call away.”

“I know, but its not the same” Christine cried her voice muffled by his shirt.

It broke Taylor’s heart to see her this upset. He didn’t know what to say. Instead he placed a kiss on her temple and ran his fingers through her hair. Then he opened his mouth and began singing softly to her. “When you have no light to guide you, and no one to walk beside you, I will come to you, oh I will come to you. When the night is dark and stormy, you won’t have to reach out for me, I will come to you, oh I will come to you.”

Her breathing rate began to slow down, and the sniffles came further and further between. It took almost the whole song, but finally she lifted her face off his chest and looked him in the eye. She gave him a watery smile.

Taylor bit his bottom lip waiting to see what she would say, but instead of saying anything she brought her lips to his in a soft kiss that slowly intensified. Taylor closed his eyes and let his tongue work its way into Christine’s mouth mixing with her own. They both sighed as the passionate kiss came to an end.

Christine pulled away and rested her head on Taylor’s shoulder. “You’ve never sung to me before” she said softly. “I liked it.”

Taylor draped his arm over her shoulder. “Maybe I’ll do it more often” he whispered.

“Why do you treat me so good?” she asked still in her soft, even tone.

“Because I love you, and you deserve it” he told her.

Christine let his sincere words sink into her brain for a few minutes. She came to the conclusion that she was the luckiest girl in the world to have this wonderful man in her life. “Thank you” she finally whispered.
