Cool word: <: susurrus [n. soo-SUR-us]
A soft, indistinct whispering sound might be described as a susurrus. Example: "The gentle waves made a quiet susurrus among the gravel cobbles." A word with exactly the same meaning is susurration [n.soo-suh-RAY-shun]. This is an onomatopoetic word whose sound imitates the sound of what it describes. The root was Latin susurrus (whisper), which was also probably derived from a much older imitative word. A rather uncommon variant is insusurration [n. in-SOO-suh-RAY-shun] (whispering in the ear; insinuation). There are also two adjectives, susurrant [soo-SUR-unt] and sussurous [soo-SUR-us], both of which describe a susurrus.
Hanging Out

Here I sit at school, just killing time before the adult ed class tonight. I’m sure I could find plenty of work to do, but I’m feeling a bit burnt out. I could have taken off and gone shopping, but I’m not in the mood.
Very odd.
I should be going over my notes and materials for tonight, but I think I’m fairly well prepared for that.
I’ve been checking my home e-mail and doing some surfing, but I’m feeling a bit bored with that too. Next I’ll start sending stupid e-mails to friends, just to have something to do.
I don’t think staying through till the evening course is going to work for me.

Today was another busy day at school, but again it seemed to go by fairly quickly. I think it partly has to do with the fact that I’m pulling kids into small groups to work with them, so I’m feeling as if every moment is filled.
This is a good thing. I hate it when the days drag, and I’m sure there will be plenty of those to come.

I just checked how my pages look from this server. The graphic links don’t work, but I have no idea why. I need a computer guru’s help on this one. Everything looks fine from my computer at home.

I bugged out of rehearsal a bit early last night, although I stayed for most of it. I was there for the pieces I most needed to review. I was ready to kick myself for not having brought my tape recorder. I’d left it at home because I didn’t think I knew the last two songs well enough to tape. I knew I didn’t have the lyrics down for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and didn’t think I knew "I Have Dreamed", in spite of the fact that it was part of our repertoire eight years ago.
Turned out I remembered it totally. This really surprised me because it has some very funky notes, and I don’t have a learning tape to practice to, so I figured I was cooked. Guess the memory is better than I thought.
So I’ll just have to wait for next week to tape it.

Here’s the challenge of the day. I’m going to try to upload this from here. It may not happen.
I may update this when I get home tonight, if it’s not too late.
