"This place is like a pigsty!" I said, trying not to knock over a pile of dirty dishes. "We need to get to a Laundromat, cause I don't have any more clean clothes and I'm not kidding. I'm going commando right now."
"Eww, Bob, that's just disgusting," Kate gave me a look and inched closer to Scott and farther from me. "Sara, congrats on finding such a keeper," she said with sarcasm.
"Yeah, I know, right?" She laughed. I sat next to her because obviously Kate didn't want me near her. I gave Sara a quick peck on the cheek and a hug.
"Yeah, well Sara doesn't mind me being this way, do you? Cause it means you're closer to me," I smirked.
"Bob, I have to agree with Kate on this one, you are disgusting. Just don't get too close to me," she pushed the hair out of my eyes and snuggled up to me.
"Don't sit on his lap either," remarked Scott. I turned very red. He was right.
"Ok, ok, you are all so disgusting, please, stop," Kate put her hands up to her ears and laughed.
Clint came and sat down with us. He looked depressed, but then, ever since the 'ending' he had looked depressed.
"How you doing today, Bro? Mildly depressed or seriously depressed?" Scott asked him in a joking tone. But once Scott saw the look on Clint's face, he knew he shouldn't be cracking jokes at his brother's expense.
"Some where in the middle of depressed and seriously depressed. I had a really bad dream last night, really freaky. I haven't been able to get it out of my head," Clint sighed and leaned back in his chair.
"Do you want to tell us?" Kate asked him softly.
"Well, I'm on stage playing our songs and then the ground breaks out from under me. I fall and fall and fall and all around me, I see pictures of Olivia and me. And we look so happy and we're all good again. Then I finally hit the ground and all around me are the torn up pictures I saw on my way falling down," Clint rubbed his eyes and looked at us.
I looked at Scott and blinked. He raised his eyebrows and gave me a look like he couldn't believe how broken up Clint was about this.
"Clint, why are you letting yourself get so worked up about Olivia? She isn't worth all this trouble," Scott said, rubbing Clint's back.
"Yes, she is, I know she is. But I ruined it, she ruined it. We can't work things out. She doesn't love me. And I can't love someone who doesn't love me back," Clint banged his head on the table over and over until Scott and I had to restrain him and take him back to his bed.
"I don't know how long he's gonna be like this," Scott said to us when we got back to the table. Nati and Dave had joined us and were eating bagels with cream cheese.
"He's so depressed, it's so cute," Natalia said, smiling. "Nati! I can't believe you are taking pleasure in this!" Dave looked at her, shocked.
"I'm not! I just think it’s so great that Clint isn't just forgetting Olivia and trying to get on with his life! He still wants to be with her regardless," Natalia said, trying to get Dave to understand her.
"Whatever. Just don't tell Clint that his depression is cute," Dave said rolling his eyes.
Natalia looked hurt and ate her bagel slowly. Dave turned to her and whispered softly in her ear. Her frown quickly turned to a smile and she laughed.
"Hey, you guys, what are you hiding?" I asked them with a smile.
"Nothing! Why would we be hiding anything?" Natalia said innocently.
"You guys don't fool us for a second. What are you hiding? We know you two are hiding something," Kate said grinning.
"It's nothing Kate. Why does there have to be something between everyone? Why can't we just be friends?" Dave insisted.
"Ok! Ok! Sorry we ever said anything," Scott said with a grumble.
Olivia came out of the bathroom from her shower and looked at us. She was pale with grief and looked as though she hadn't stopped crying in hours. Tears stained her face as she made herself a cup of tea. Although we knew how unstable she was at the moment, she kept a cool head around us.
"Hey Liv, how you holding up?" Sara asked her.
Liv turned around and shrugged. "I'm ok I guess. Better than I was," She went back to making her tea.
"Do you want to talk about anything?" Kate asked her.
"No, I just need some time alone," She poured the hot water into the mug and spooned some sugar in with the tea bag. "If anyone needs me I'm gonna be in the bedroom. Depression is good for your creativity," and with that, she left us.
"She's not doing much better either," I said to Sara, resting my chin on her shoulder.
"No, she isn't. I wish there was some way we could get them to talk or something. At least get a little more happy," Sara answered me.
"Yeah. Olivia does love him, no matter how much Clint denies it. She loves him so much. Clint just won't believe it," Natalia said.
"Yeah, but he has good reason to deny it. Olivia hasn't exactly shown to him how much she loves him. She was always pushing him away and not fully opening herself up," Scott defended his brother.
"Clint smothered her. He came on too strong, too quickly. Olivia has never been in this kind of relationship before. She's never been in any relationship before. She doesn't know quite how to act around him," Natalia's voice rose.
"It's not that hard to tell someone that you love them," Scott's voice got louder too.
"It is if you mean it!" Natalia almost shouted.
"Hey! Guys, calm down. They both have their reasons for why it isn't working out. It's up to them to try to make it work. Fighting about it isn't going to solve anything," Sara tried to calm them down.
"Whatever. Are we going to stop soon? I really need to get off this bus. Almost a whole day driving. I'm going crazy, Scott. Sorry," Natalia apologized.
"Yeah, it's cool. We shouldn't fight. I'm sorry too. I'll go ask Dad if there are any rest stops or malls or anything," Scott got up and walked to the front of the bus.
"Let's not fight either," I looked deep into Sara's eyes.
"What are you talking about?" she asked me, looking at me weirdly.
I bent down and kissed her, she looked surprised that I'd done that. But after a little while, she went with the flow.
"Hey guys, get a room. Seriously," Dave looked at us sickly.
"Not a bad idea, what do you say, Sara?" I look at her jokingly.
"I don't think so, tiger," she laughed and snuggled back into my arms.
CLINT
We stepped off the bus and onto the sidewalk. Dad had agreed to let us roam for an hour or two. We were very close to our destination and we were becoming annoying anyway.
"Clint!" Someone called me. Kate and Scott motioned to me to join them. "We're going to the little diner across the street, do you want to come?"
I shrugged and walked over to them with my hands in my pockets. I didn't feel very hungry, but I didn't want to roam around alone anyway. If Olivia and I were still together, we could find a little place to eat and then we'd be happy.
We crossed the street, with Nati and Dave following us. Sara Bob and Olivia were going to the mall down the street to find some clothes Bob could wear for the next few days. We had a lot of laundry to do.
"What do you feel hungry for, CT?" Dave asked me.
"Whatever, I'm not really hungry," I said.
"You've got to eat something. You haven't eaten in two days!" Nati told me.
"I'm ordering you a cheeseburger, ok? And I don't care if we have to open your mouth and force it down your throat, you look sickly and you've got to eat," Dave told me. For a brother that's incredibly annoying sometimes, he does take care of me.
"Ok, ok. I'll eat the damn cheeseburger. Get me a cherry coke, too," I said smiling.
Natalia clapped her hands and threw them around my neck. "Yeah! We got you to smile again!" Dave gave her a look and she calmed down a bit.
"Ok, Natalia, you've gotten people to stare at us, now calm down," he said.
"Oh, baby, that's nothing. You really want me to get people to stare at us?" She said with a devilish smile.
"Don't tempt her, Dave. You're talking to the girl who wore a pink wig to McDonalds once," Kate said with a laugh.
"Ok, Ok. I'll back off."
The waitress came up to us and took our order. "What would you like today?" Her voice sounded familiar.
"Mary!" shouted Kate. "Hi! What are you doing here?"
"Oh! Hi! I work here, cause I live in this city," she said, flustered.
"That is so cool," I said. Mary looked cute in her pink waitress dress. It was a bit short; it made her long legs even longer.
"Yeah, we're playing in the next city over. Our promise still stands, if you want to come, we'll get you on the backstage list," Scott said.
"Sure, I'd love to. Listen, my shift is over in about half an hour, are you gonna be here for a while?" Mary asked us.
"We're only here for a little while, then we have to get to wherever we going to. But we’re free tonight. Do you want to go do something?" I asked her, suddenly full of energy.
"Sure, let me give you my number and you can call me when you get something worked out," she wrote down her number, then wrote down our orders and gave them to the cook.
"That was weird, wasn't it?" I said to the guys. They looked at me weirdly and smiled.
"Clint, that was a miraculous recovery. You went from barely speaking to full of pep and happiness. What brought this on?" Kate asked me.
"I don't know. Maybe I just want to get out for a while," I said, smiling.
"Yeah, right," Scott said, rolling his eyes.
CLINT
We had unpacked our stuff into the hotel rooms we were spending the night in. Finally, real beds in a real room. No more coffin beds.
"Hey, Clint, which room do you want?" Dave asked me.
"Any room you aren't in. You snore. I need some rest," I gave him a look.
"Yeah, thanks. Well, at least you're acting normal again," He smiled and pushed open the door to the room.
"I'm just kidding Dave, I'll share the room with you," I said, throwing my bags on the bed.
"That's ok, really. I'll share with Scott. Bob can come in here instead," Dave backed out of the door and a few minutes later Bob came in and began to unpack.
"Hey man, thanks for switching with Dave, I really need rest. I can't deal with his incessant snoring," I told him.
'It's ok. He's not mad or anything. He understands. Now Scott on the other hand, he claims he wants rest too, but I'm not even gonna go there," Bob said with a laugh. "Are you ready for tonight? Big night, time to party."
"Yeah, I wanna look really good tonight," I said, taking out my baggy jeans and wifebeater shirt. It showed off my biceps.
"You wanna look good for Mary, don't you? I knew it," Bob said, shaking his head. "What happened to Olivia?"
"Who?" I said with a smile.
OLIVIA
"How do I look?" I came out of the bathroom wearing the cutest outfit I had.
"Olivia, like I said the twenty five other times you came out of the bathroom, you look fine," Sara looked up from the desk where she was writing down a song.
"But fine isn't good enough! I want to look wonderful, sexy, irresistible! I want Clint back, and I want him to notice me again," I stomped back into the bathroom to change.
"Olivia, leave it alone. You look good in anything. So just pick something and come out here. He's really not worth all the trouble," Natalia clicked the channels on the TV.
"How can you say that?" I asked her. "He is the only one that I love right now, none of you guys are worth it. I want him back. I want him to know that I love him, and that I honestly mean it," I applied my makeup and slipped on my shoes.
"You look absolutely magnifique, dahling.," Kate looked at me and smiled. "That should catch his attention very well. Are we ready?"
We shut off the lights and walked downstairs to where the taxis were waiting.
OLIVIA
"So what's the name of this place we are going to?" I asked Sara who was sitting up front in the cab.
"It's something like, 'L'Niorde' at least that's what Mary called it. It's some kind of hot dance club. It'll be fun Liv, don't worry," She comforted me.
"What if Clint doesn't want me back?" I asked in a small voice.
"Trust me, he does, he was moping around all day today. Barely talked, barely ate. He wants to work things out, but he really believes you don't love him. Try to make him feel loved," Kate told me.
"But I don't know what to do. What if I come on too strong? Or if he doesn't believe me then either?" I began to get very worried.
"Honestly and you have to believe us this time, if he acts like a jerk to you, then it's really not worth it. You're just gonna keep hurting yourself. But if he really wants you then I say go for it," Natalia said, fixing her lipstick.
"Ok, thanks you guys. I feel a little bit better," I said, still worried.
"Just remember that we are always here for you to fall back on, and tonight's a night to have fun, ok? So don't worry too much! Come on, the guys are already waiting outside for us," Sara said as she opened the cab doors and paid the man.
CLINT
"Hey man, Mary looks damn fine tonight, don't you think?" I said to Scott, elbowing him.
"Yeah, man, but I've got my own beauty to stare at," He said smiling at Kate, who was talking to Mary.
"Man, I don't think I've ever seen you this committed to a girl before. It's good. Kate's good, keep her happy," I said fixing my hair in a little mirror before walking over to Mary.
"Hey Clint, what's up?" she said to me in a sweet little voice.
"Not much, I was just coming over to talk to you. You look really good tonight, I love that skirt on you," I smiled as sweetly as I could.
"Thanks, that's really sweet of you," She smiled. She flipped her hair and smoothed out the front of her skirt. "Are we ready to go in?" she asked, looking directly at me.
"Sure, ladies first," I led her to the door, gave our names to the bouncer. Then he stamped out hands and opened the door to the club. She was so cute. She wants me so bad.
SARA
Bob turned to me. "Are you sure you don't want a beer or something?" he asked me.
"No, I have a heart problem. I can't have alcohol. I thought I told you this before," I looked at him. I could have sworn we have been through this conversation before.
"I don't remember. You might have. I just want you to have fun," he said, whispering in her ear. I could feel his warm breath on my neck. It made shivers run up my spine. Bob was so perfect; he knows how to treat a lady.
He led me to the dance floor and we began to dance. "Bob, you are an incredible dancer!" I yelled above the crowd.
"I'm even better at other things!" he yelled back, his eyes meeting mine. I blushed and kept on dancing.
We danced for an hour and then went back to the table to rest. "Hey, Bob. I'm kinda tired. Let's go back to the hotel. We can watch movies on the couch and have fun," I said.
"Sure, let me just go tell the rest of those guys we are going back. Would you go outside and see if you can haul a taxi?" he squeezed my hand and gave me a quick kiss. Like hell I was tired.
CLINT
"Wanna dance?" I asked Mary, just as a really good song came on.
"Sure! I'd love to, Clint," she said, her speech a bit slurred. We got out onto the dance floor and began to grind. Mary was a really great dancer, so sexy. Oh, she was looking so fine in that tiny skirt, doing all these complicated dance moves. She's almost drunk and she can still dance perfectly.
"Oops!" I had spoken too soon, because just then she tripped. She landed in my arms and it was perfect.
"Thank you. You are so incredibly sweet," she said, smiling radiantly.
It was easy to win her over. I would flirt, she would flirt, and she was looking so hot. I just had to be with her outside of this place, somewhere where we can be alone.
"Hey, this place is getting kind of crowded. Let's go somewhere and be alone for a while," I smiled at her.
"Sure. Let me get my jacket," she left to get her it while I told Bob what was up.
"I'm going home with Mary, so just tell Dad I'm at a diner or something. Something to keep him from wondering," I told him, swearing him to secrecy.
"Sure. Hey that leaves the whole hotel room alone to Sara and me. You're sure you’re not going to be back tonight?" He asked me, squinting.
"Oh, I'm sure," I told him.
I went back to Mary and we left the club and walked to her car. “Where do you want to go?” I asked her nonchalantly when we got in the car.
“We could go to my diner and get something to eat,” She suggested.
“Nah, I’m not very hungry,” I said, shrugging.
“We could go to my apartment. I have this awesome balcony, you can see the whole city from it,” Her eyes lit up and she smiled at me.
“I’d love to,” I took her hand in mine and smiled. I thought of Olivia, back at the club. I felt bad for a second. What did I plan on doing tonight?
“Clint,” Mary tried to get my attention. “Clint, is something wrong?”
“What?” I looked at her, “Oh, no. I’m ok.”
“Good, cause we’re here,” She parked the car in the building garage.
BOB
“Sara, we’re home,” I took her hand and led her into the room. The beds were freshly made and there were flowers on the table.
I laid down on the bed. “It’s too bad you’re tired. We have the whole room to ourselves tonight.”
“What do you mean?” she said, ruffling through her drawers.
“Clint’s with Mary. He said he wouldn’t be back till later,” I told her.
“He did? Oh no,” she said, sounding upset.
“What’s the matter?” I asked her.
“It’s nothing, except, Olivia was trying to get Clint back tonight. She still loves him. Oh no, this is horrible,” She sat down next to me and laid down. “Well, I don’t want to keep thinking about them tonight,” She turned and looked at me. I reached over and caressed the side of her face. She looked like an angel lying there.
“Are you going to bed soon?” I asked her.
“I don't know. But hopefully I won’t be alone,” she smiled and kissed me. Her tongue filled my mouth and soon she was on top of me. We rolled around the bed, kissing every part of skin that was exposed.
We sat up and she peeled my shirt off. She kissed me again, rubbing her hands up and down my back. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I never thought it would happen with us.
She unbuttoned her shirt and threw it on the floor. I reached behind her and unclasped her bra. This was going to be an awesome night.
CLINT
“Hey Clint, come out to the balcony,” Mary called to me. I stepped out and into the free open air. Mary was drinking champagne and the wind was blowing through her hair. She looked so perfect, like an angel ready to fly off and rescue me.
“I feel so free up here,” I told her, slipping my arm around her waist.
“It’s so beautiful,” I said, looking out onto the horizon. “And so are you.”
She smiled and kissed me. I returned the kiss and led her back into the apartment. I fell back onto the couch and she fell on top of me, pulling my sweater vest over my head.
“Do you want to do this?” I asked her. She nodded and unzipped my pants. I kicked off my shoes and took off her shirt.
It dawned on me what I was doing. What were we thinking? I always told myself I’d only do this when I loved someone. Do I love Mary enough to have sex with her? And more importantly, didn’t I still love Olivia? If I did do anything with Mary, I’d never be able to get Olivia back, no matter how much I begged her.
I stood up and gathered the clothing that I had flung around the room. “Hey, what’s wrong? What are you doing?” A confused Mary asked me.
“Mary, I’m sorry, I can’t do this. I’m afraid I’d regret it too much. Don’t take it the wrong way. You are a very beautiful girl, but I’m just making a mistake. I’m sorry. I’ll see you later, ok?” I put my shoes on and left her apartment feeling horrible.
SCOTT
“Kate, have you seen Clint? I’ve look for him everywhere, I can’t find him,” Olivia whined to Kate. Why can’t she just get over the fact that he isn’t coming back to her?
“Scott, can you hold on? Just let me talk to Olivia for a few minutes. I’ll be right back,” Kate said to me. I nodded and went back to drinking my rum and coke. I haven’t seen Sara and Bob around either. They must have gone back.
Natalia and Dave came up to me and sat down. “Hey what’s up?” Dave asked me.
“Not much, just waiting for Kate to come back. Olivia needed to talk to her. Again,” I pushed back my hair and rolled my eyes.
“Well, I’m not explaining again to you why Olivia needs our help right now. You most of all should be compassionate,” Natalia told me.
“Why should I be compassionate? This has nothing to do with me,” I told her, getting angry. This really doesn’t have a point to it.
Natalia just rolled her eyes and walked away. “She doesn’t even know what she’s talking about, man. She’s got absolutely no story to go by. She’s just jealous that I’m with Kate and she has no one. ” I told Dave.
“Well, Olivia did like you for a long time and then when you and Kate got together, all the feelings came back. In a way, she still likes you. She didn’t want Clint to know cause she was trying to get over it. Clint feels bad because he thinks the relationship between him and Olivia is just a rebound thing,” Dave told me, obviously trying to defend Natalia.
“Hey man, are you on my side or theirs?” I asked him. He looked down.
“I’m going to find Natalia,” he said. I swear to god, either him and Natalia have something going on, or that boy is seriously gay.
BOB
I lay on the bed, with Sara on my chest, catching our breath. “Are you ok?” I asked her.
“Yes, I’m wonderful. You’re wonderful. I love you,” she kissed my chest and drew the blankets up to her shoulders.
Just then, Clint opened the door and flew across the room. Sara shrieked and ducked under the covers. I took one of the blankets to cover myself with and got up.
“Hey man, I thought you weren’t coming back until later,” I told him hurriedly.
“I’m sorry to disturb you guys, I just couldn’t do it with Mary. We began to, and then I thought of Olivia and I just couldn’t do it. I still love her and to do this would crush any and all hopes of ever getting back together with her,” he looked absolutely crushed.
“Well, I’m sorry about your little problem, but you came in at a very private time,” I told him, ushering him to the door.
“Oh yeah, I’m really sorry. I’ll go down to the arcade or something. Bye Sara,” he waved to her and shut the door.
I turned to her and blushed. “I’m sorry about the, um, disruption. Are you ok?” I asked her, getting back into bed.
"Yes I’m fine. I have to be getting back to my room anyway.” She got up and threw on my shirt and gathered her clothes together. She came to me and kissed my cheek. “I love you. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” She left the room with me still in bed.
