Chapter 8

"Guys, we've got the entire night free!" Nick said excitedly.

"Hold it there kiddo--we have to meet at 7:30 tomorrow! Don't be getting any ideas!" Kevin warned.

Currently everyone was waiting for the terminal to become less crowded. Candace and I were just hanging around. I guess you could say I was a little nosey. We were the objects of several stares as the older crowd disembarked. The few younger people that were on the plane did gawk. And one young girl even asked Howie for an autograph.

"Sure…don't ask anyone else…Howie's getting special treatment!" Nick stuck his tongue out at Howie. Not phased for long, he turned to me. "Hey Selena--since you like arcades so much I think that--I have THE place that you'd love to hit..." sang out Nick.

Uh oh, I thought. The last thing I wanted to do was spend another night at a dumb arcade. It took me four Advil and a fitful five hours of sleep to recover from the headache I had last week.

"God, Frack. I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is go to another arcade. Let her expand her horizons."

I threw Brian a grateful look as I turned to Candace who felt the need to throw in her own two cents.

"I say we let Selena decide what to do. Besides, it's inevitable. She wants to spend the evening getting to know her new roommate and fellow dance colleague."

I laughed at what she said in spite of myself. "What do you say we bail on out then?" I asked.

She jumped up almost too quickly "you read my mind."

"Well, we don't want you around anyway," said Nick.

I threw him a coy smile and an eyebrow lift. "Be seeing ya."

"Yeah, I hope not sporadically..." said Brian.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes. "How many time have you seen Clueless?"

"Once, last night. I had to throw in that one liner today. Man it was my goal for today."

"Come on Selena," Candace tugged at my arm.

"Hmmmm you were just a TAD anxious to get off the plane dear," I said sarcastically once we were out of earshot.

"Well, I can only stand so much of that guy."

"Who?"

"Nick."

"Come on, he's not THAT bad. I mean...he's...cute."

"I suppose, if you're into that wholesome 100% grade A American kinda guy," Candace joked.

"Well, he was ALWAYS my favorite member of the group." I joked. "He's the baby you know? The playful one. I kinda like that. But man... arcades? No, not my cup of tea."

We approached the baggage claim.

"Get used to it. Video games are his life."

"I kinda figured that kinda thing could always be overlooked."

"Huh, not when that's the kinda dates he thinks are ideal! I mean...well...oh hey there's my bag."

I eyed Candace with intrigue "well, well, well, I do believe that this is a voice of experience!"

Candace blushed, "well like I said this is my second video with the Backstreet Boys. Nick and I kinda well... went out together for a while."

"Do tell!" I said as I grabbed my own suitcase.

"I'll tell you about it later, for now let's just find our transportation and get to the hotel."

Just then I heard a scream "MOM, MOM, IT'S REALLY THEM!! AUGHHHHHH!!!!!!"

"Guess who just entered the building?" I asked mildly.
