Chapter 7

"Do you have everything hon?" asked my mother.

I scanned the backseat and trunk of my family's 4Runner one last time.

I was finally on my way to Orlando. My finals were done and I had moved back home temporarily until next semester. My first class ticket was tucked safely in my pocket. "You guys are coming with me into the terminal right?" I asked.

"Of course!" said my "little" seventeen year old brother Drew. Being that ideal brother he grabbed my luggage and lead the way to the airport entrance.

After checking in my luggage my family and I sat in the uncomfortable vinyl seats waiting for my flight to be called.

My mom looked at me and chuckled, "Hon I'm so glad for you. It's like a dream come true."

I giggled like a little school girl "I know I know..."

Drew just rolled his eyes--"Selena act your age."

A lot of people mistook us for twins because we were only ten months apart…it was times like now that my "inner child" shone through.

"Flight 129, nonnstop to Orlando will now begin boarding those passengers that require special assistance."

I stood up. "You guys, I'm going to get in line, they'll be calling first class next."

I gave my mom a quick hug "I'll see you next week mom."

Drew just stood there.

"Do you really think that I'm going to let you off the hook that quickly?" I grabbed and gave him a quick squeeze.

Upon boarding I found Nick, Brian and the rest of the group already situated. "You know, it must be neat to be treated like royalty..." I teased referring to the fact that they had boarded well before anyone else.

"Well that's all part of the 'being-recognized by the world' package," joked Howie.

I took my seat between Brian and some girl that I didn't recognize.

She looked at me with curiosity. She had remarkable Asian features: jet black hair cut into a bob, and beautiful almond shaped eyes. "I'm Candace," she reached her hand over to shake my hand.

"Selena," I said.

"I figured as much," I'm the other dancer she grinned.

I opened my eyes groggily. I didn't recognize the pillow I was laying on. Extremely disoriented I lifted my head and rubbed my eyes. The realization that I had been laying on Brian's shoulder sunk in slowly. I patted him on the shoulder, "sorry about that," I apologized.

"Why do you think God made shoulders?" he joked. "You looked so peaceful I didn't have the heart to wake you. I didn't mind."

I could feel myself blushing so I quickly turned to face Candace. As I did so, Nick, who was sitting across the aisle caught my eye. He stretched and grinned, "home sweet home. Well, close enough anyway."

Nick's family actually resided in Tampa.

"Is this your first trip here?"

I thought for a second "hmmmmm...I visited my uncle a couple of times, and then I went to his funeral..."

Nick snorted "wow...I'm touched."

I reached over and whacked him playfully.

"And I've been to Disney three times. This is my seventh time here!" I turned to Candace "where are we going to be staying anyway?"

"Well, the last video I did with them I got to stay at the Sheritan Tera Hotel. But it changes."

"Wow, not too shabby."

"Though, generally speaking most of their dancers are amateurs who already live in the Orlando region. It's much cheaper that way."

I looked slyly at Nick

"Don't look at me, I never have any say!"
