The extemporaneous groove is a radio show. It is not a universal remote control, a flea remedy, or a pair of sneakers. DON'T BE FOOLED! We love only your juice, and care not for the juices of corporate america. Let them pay a ton of money for advertising that nobody listens to! We hold the real power in our sweaty palms: free and unadulterated expression of thought. Is this too much to ask? Is it safe? Should I get this growth looked at? Shouldn't we be paying millions of dollars for an FCC license? Perhaps... but it's not fun that way. Red Line Radio is a community based free radio station (soon to be) broadcasting on the north side of Chicago. We like purple balloons, shiny metal objects, warm summer days, cool summer nights, and rude people. We only ask that you completely disregard all of our opinions, because that is simply what they are: our opinions. We aren't attempting to force feed our dogma to you... don't be misled. It is true that some of us are more outspoken than others... but these things must be said. Will you listen? Shit, I can't force you to. That is the beauty of this project. Some will listen, others will not. Do we care? No... why? Simple... we derive no income from this. You see, most radio stations are paid millions of dollars by advertisers. These sponsors will only advertise on shows that are popular. It is natural that not only will a radio station base it's content on what most people will listen to, but it will also censor content that most people don't want to hear. Whether they choose to censor it because it's obscene, too abstract, or just not popular enough doesn't matter to me. What matters is that they censor content in the first place. Red Line Radio won't do that! It's live, undelayed, unpopular, abstract, graphic, and good! We don't have programming directors who decide what you want to hear... we just put it out there. If you don't like it... sod off... if you do, good job. You're one of the few that strays outside of that 95 to 105 I.Q. margin. (unlike myself) Ok... phew... now I can stop acting so self-righteous and get down to what you want to know. The extemporaneous groove showcases electronic music in all of its forms. The predominant style being IDM / Braindance. This is just music folks... not a radical political theory. Don't be afraid. Unless techno scares you. Hopefully, I will be able to get artists to perform live on the air. These could be DJs, or producers, or even myself. I've been known to sequence a blip or two. Maybe this you should be scared of. Anyhow... I also am hoping to make this show interactive (oh buzzword!). With pirate radio it's so hard to interact with the audience due to the whole illegal aspect of it all. But I do have an email address, and a voicemail number is coming soon. So I'll be askin' y'all to phone in or write in so that I know you're out there. Trust me, it's better this way. Hopefully we'll both enjoy this experiment. -slacker |
