A Comparison of American Country Western and Bluegrass and Thai Luktoong
American Country
American country was developed in the southern United States, especially in Appalachia. The origins are traditional folk songs and spirituals, though now many country artists write their own songs, which usually follow the same themes as the traditional songs. One of the most influential country signers, and often considered one of the founders of popular country music, is Jimmie Rodgers. Using the traditional ballads of the South, his songs focus on topics that common people can relate to in their daily lives. He often took the stories he heard from people he met and created songs. Bluegrass's founding father is Bill Monroe, who, along with his band, the Blue Grass Boys, recorded a number of songs in the thirties and forties. Instrumentation for Bluegrass usually consists of fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass. These same instruments are also found in Country, with the addition of electric guitar, drums, and other modern instruments.
