Copying a CD
Creating a Data CD
Data encompasses all formats of information stored in your computer. These formats include pictures that you saved to your hard drive, documents and files that you created with programs such as Word,
Photoshop. These formats also include mp3’s, mpg’s, and programs downloaded off the internet. Data CD’s can be made in multi- session meaning that you can write some files today and some more files tomorrow so on and so on until the disk is full. Copying and pasting the file to your desktop or a file folder on your hard drive is an easy way to access data that is written to the CD. The file can only be viewed in this manner. To make changes to the file, you will need to change the attributes by right clicking on the file that you pasted and selecting
Properties. In the attribute section of the file properties, check off

Creating an Audio CD from MP3’s.
Audio CD’s must be created in one sitting. The ability that your CD-ROM has over your Discman or home stereo is that CD-ROM’s are capable of playing multi-session discs. Mp3’s are rated in quality. Quality is rated in bit rate or Kb/sec. CD quality mp3’s are 128kb/sec or higher. Downloading mp3’s of lower quality can cause distortion in the playback of the CD in your car or home stereo. The quality of the mp3 is located in the software interface that you are using to download the song.

Copying a CD
The process that CD-ROM’s go through in copying an audio CD is called digital audio extraction. Very few CD-ROM’s have this capability; this requires a CD-RW. If your find that you are unable to successfully copy an audio CD then try copying from your CD-RW back to your CD-RW. This process saves the CD to your hard drive in a temporary format. After the save to your hard drive completes, the original CD will pop out, and the computer ask you to insert a blank CD. Insert the blank CD and continue the write process.
