Exposed since May 2008, I decided to finally start replacing the drivers floor pan. This image was taken before I began. It looked rough. | After cleaning with a wire wheel I applied Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator and a Chassis Black enamel. |
I trimmed the replacement floor pan to match the removed area and drilled holes for welding to the frame rails. | Using flux core wire, I weld to the frame and the original floor. After I cut and weld a panel for the lower firewall the floor should be finished! |
This shot was taken after removing the rest of the interior panels. | I removed the old seam sealer and used a wire wheel to clean some surface rust. I welded up a few holes and sprayed more of Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator and Chassis Black enamel. |
I removed the headliner as it had a few torn seams and was starting to sag. | Two
days was all I could find in 2010 to work on the 'ol girl. Family,
weather and other plans tend to slow the restoration process
dramatically. Car shows and shop talk with friends keep the motivation
going and I have decided to minitub the rear. I would like to have my
rear wheels widened +2" to run 315 or even 330 series tires. I
currently have a set of COY's
machined C-67 wheels, 18x9 rear and 17x8 front (note: machined was the
only style available when I ordered them years ago). Hopefully I will
find more time in 2011 to complete several much needed tasks. Planned next steps: Complete floor Mini tubs Complete front suspension Install front inner fenders Install radiator support It's a long list, but that what I am hoping for. Thanks for reading, Larry |
I removed some paint from the passenger frame rail where it meets the lower portion of the firewall and completed welding the frame to the floor. | A little more work with a wire wheel to remove the factory undercoating from the driver side frame. I plan to fully weld the seams here and apply new undercoating. |
