CAMPUS HISTORY

The Orleans Area Vocational Technical School now the Louisiana Technical College was established in 1954 as a tuition free institute by the Lousiana Legislative Act 394 for the purpose of offering a broader field of educational opportunities to the people of the state.
This agency was completed in August 1957 under the direction of the late Sidney N. Collier, offering six courses. The first graduation was held in April 1959 for the Cosmetology class. In 1962, due to tremendous demands, evening courses scheduled for specific times and evenings were instituted. The increased demands by industry and applicants again enabled Louisiana Technical College-Sidney N. Collier Campus to expand. The college now offers 26 job ready courses.
