"Zoey!" Zoey heard her mother call her. She got up off her bed, and stumbled down the hallway
sleepily.
"What mom?" She said with a yawn.
"Zoey, your a disgrace!" Her mother commented. "Anyways, take this key, and go check the
mail for me. I'm expecting a package. And don't read anything thats for me!"
Zoey nodded her head, and left the room, stumbling back to her own.
"Oh, and Zoey!"
"What mom?"
"Get dressed, would you?"
"Yes mom."
Zoey pulled on a pair of gray cotten cargo pants, and a navy blue Tommy Girl shirt, spritzing on
some perfume. She brushed her wavy dark brown hair back into a pony tail, and put a pair of
earrings in.
Walking to the top of the stairs, Zoey hopped onto the banister and slid down the railing. She
smiled to herself, and continued to the kitchen, where she grabbed a banana off the counter, tied
her Nike shoes, and walked out the door.
Muching on her banana as she went, she whistled to herself as she looked at everything around
her. Zoey had always loved nature, no matter where she went. It was so peaceful, and it always
seemed to comfort Zoey.
Zoey reached the mailbox, and realized there was already someone there. She didn't bother to
look up in fear it would be someone she knew, and would get totally embaressed. She put the key
in the slot, and opened the latch, looking in. It was flooded with letters! "Gosh, when was the last
time mom checked the mail box." Zoey said to herself, forgetting there was someone else there.
"Oh! Hey --- Zoey?"
Zoey looked up, and her jaw nearly hit the pavement. "Oh, hey...Taylor," she said smiling
nervously. She stood there, somewhat aqwardly, just staring. 'Say something,' Zoey thought.
"So, uh, great soccer game, yesterday, Taylor." Zoey said.
"Oh, thanks! It was pretty close, but we managed to pull through. You were there for the whole
thing?"
Zoey wasn't, but she didn't want to say so. "Uh, yeah."
"What do you think of our new mascot?" Taylor sort of chuckled to himself.
Zoey caught on, forcing out a laugh. "Oh, yeah, it was really funny," she said, though she hadn't
seen any mascot of any kind.
Taylor gave her a confused look, but went on gathering up the mail.
Zoey blushed, grabbed everything in the mailbox, and closed the door. "B-bye Taylor," she said
flusterously, and ran all the way back home.
"You are such an idiot, Zoey, what were you thinking?!" She said to herself, as she threw open
her front door. She tossed the mail onto the table, and ran up the stairs, looking out the window,
just in time to see Taylor walking back to his house down which wasn't too far away.
"Why am I always like this? Why am I even here?" Zoey murmered to herself, feeling sorry for
herself. She slowly got up, and grabbed her duffle bag. "I have to get out of here..."
