Replicas

The second album released by Beggar's Banquet under the catalog number BEGA 7. It was recorded at Gooseberry Studios, Soho, London in 1979. It was produced by Gary Numan, engineered by John Caffery and mixed by Rikki Sylvan, John Caffery and Gary Numan.
The
line-up was as follows:
Gary
Numan - Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals
Paul
Gardiner - Bass Guitar
Jess
Lidyard - Drums
Much like the first Tubeway Army album, Replicas retains a simple, uncluttered clarity. However, this album was more refined and better engineered. Gary makes much more use of the synthesizer on this recording than on the first.
What can I say about this album? When I first bought it, I couldn't stop listening to it. I must have worn it out in the first week of owning it. It was just so damn refreshing....much like the first. Not only is this album a tribute to Gary's musical talents, it also peeks into his personal perception of what the future might be like. A vision of an impersonal, cold world filled with 'Replicas' (synthetic humans), 'Rape Machines' and a 'Park' in which humans are hunted. Sounds like fun to me!
