Wanderer's Diplomacy: Wanderer's Diplomacy[General]Many halfl ings journey far and wide across the world, spending no more than a few months in one place. You have spent time among the halfl ings, or you are a halfl ing yourself. Your exposure to that race's nomadic way of life has taught you several useful methods of dealing with strangers. Prerequisite: Halfl ing or 4 ranks in Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive Benefit: You excel in using your words and wit to make your way in the world. This feat grants you three separate abilities. Canny Merchant: You can make a Diplomacy check to track down an item that is normally too expensive to be purchased in the town or settlement where you are currently located. The DC of this check is 10 + (the item's gp cost minus the community's gp limit, divided by 1,000). If this check succeeds, you learn of a merchant who can supply the item to you. You must still purchase it as normal. Intuitive Communication: When you are faced with a creature whose language you do not understand, you can attempt to communicate with it by making a successful Sense Motive check. This check requires that you spend at least 1 minute listening to the creature and watching its gestures and demeanor. The check's base DC is 20. If the creature is not the same type as you, the DC is 30. With a successful check, you learn the basic gist of the creature's speech. This ability gives you no special talent to speak the creature's tongue. Social Agility: You can temporarily alter a creature's attitude toward you. You can use Bluff against an unfriendly or less hostile creature in the same way you use Diplomacy. Using Bluff in this manner is a standard action that takes no special penalties. The target's attitude remains changed for 1 minute. After this time, it becomes one grade more hostile than where it started for 10 minutes.
Special rules for it: Canny Merchent has it's limits, you can't find a Holy Avenger +5 or anything Arjiss: Social Agility is at DM discretion, for example, if you have a gnoll leering at you and considering eating you, then yes, it'll work...but if a red dragon is in attack formation or a orc berserker is in the throes of bloodlust, then no, but those are pretty much written in anyhow.

VERSATILE PERFORMER You are skilled at many kinds of performances. Prerequisite: Perform (any) 5 ranks. Benefit: Pick a number of Perform categories equal to your Intelligence bonus (minimum 1). For the purpose of making Perform checks, you are treated as having a number of ranks in those skills equal to the highest number of ranks you have in any Perform category. You cannot change these categories once you have picked them, but your score in them automatically increases if you later add additional ranks in your highestranked Perform category. You gain new categories of your choice if your Intelligence bonus permanently increases. In addition, you gain a +2 bonus on a combined Perform check when using two or more forms of performance at the same time, such as a bard strumming a lyre while singing. In such cases, add the bonus to the higher of your two Perform skill modifiers.

Comgal: Essu's inn of choice is the Emerald Serpent (has tavern attached), Peregrine has befriended the innkeep of The Peddler's Casque and stays there as well as boarding his ponies and Elidar and Ingrid for 1g/night, playing in the evenings to make money and offset the cost of his own lodgings.

Arjiss: The Rumbellies are an offshoot of halfling kin, larger then most halflings and they share the dwarven love of food and drink. They tend to be farmers and some of them become fishermen. They live comfortably in the shadow of the dwarven empire, and it is not uncommon to see dwarves amongst them on their way to and from their cities Arjiss: Kaer Vermundr loosely means 'Protector of Man' and is immensely fortified, carved into a great mountain. Arjiss: It is also the home of the Sigmundr, the elite dwarven guards and infantry.

The Job: Ole' Merrick McGee has a few rare furs he needs delivered to East Plummont, a large trade town some distance away...it goes through some somewhat dangerous territory, and hes afraid his old bones just wont be up to it...Arjiss: You are to meet a Woman there named "Elizabeth Roe" who will pay you a delivery fee for the fursArjiss: Your one of the only people he can trust for this delivery, and begs that you dont screw it up.

- People -

Ole' Merrick McGee; A Storyteller by trade, one of the best as far as you know. An old man, gray haired and thin, with a large nose and big ears, but a kind heart and warm smile. It was he who took you under his wing, taught you the art of stories, taught you to weave your own brand of magic into them. He has proven himself over the years as a loyal friend and a wonderful mentor.

Silus Bellhaus; A local thug and tough. A large human, handsome and well formed, too strong and brazen for his own good, he uses strength when he can and cowardice when he cant. Not a truly wicked man, just a selfish one and a bully.

Frendal Wickbottom; A Halfling buddie of yours, as well as an in-law, he married into your family some time back. A good bloke, a touch lazy, but quite wealthy as halflings go. His uncle was a semi-famous Deputy (as halfling guards are known), and as such Fren' knows a bit of swordplay, which he happily passed on to you.

Daisy Peppers; The best lookin' halfling girl in Glensborrow. Dark brown hair, a kindly, innocent face, and a polite manner attracted her many suitors. Her uncle, who raised her, is a wealthy Halfling, who owns a great deal of land around Glensborrow and the surrounding areas. Hes something of a sour old goat, but not truly wicked. His name is Barlon Peppers, or "Uncle Sours" as people call him when he isnt around.



- Background -

You are a young halfling, born in Glensborrow, a small halfling community. As a child, your family would periodicly go to the neighboring human town of Lanshire, a large town where much trade occurs. As you grew older, you were fascinated by the merchents and traders you encountered there,with their shrewd tongues and fine clothes. Many traveling merchents were also storytellers, traveling the land, selling their wares, and passing the time by the fire with tales of far-off lands...while not professional storytellers by trade, their talk of far off adventures was still most appealing...

You now find yourself a young man, poor in wealth but rich in spirit, an aspiring talespinner and trader by your own right, and with a touch of magic in your back pocket to boot!

You are not an "official" merchent as of yet, as you are far from wealthy enough to "earn" (read; buy) membership in any true guild, but thats well enough...you are young and the open road beckons, you have more then enough time to make your way. ..as long as you arent eaten by a gnoll or gobbled by a giant, that is. ..or stabbed in the back by my soon-to-be-acquired companion. (Be it literally or figuratively.)
