My brother is 44 years old and this was his first hunt.
I have begged him for years to hunt with me, and he finally did.
So me and him started planning the hunt about 2 months before it opened .
The more we talked about it, the more excited he got.
So about two weeks before it opened we went and built him a stand in a heavly traveled place. T
here were deer trails everywhere, it was a heavily traveled area.
So the very first morning I got him in the stand early.
It was very cold, he saw a few does but didn't shoot because he wanted a buck.
Well it went on for about three days and he didn't do any good.
So I thought I would let him hunt my stand, because I had been seeing some pretty good bucks.
So I got him in my stand very early that morning and I told him that about 7:00 AM there would be at least one or two bucks around my stand.
And no lie about it, about 7:00AM here he came, right under my stand.
He wasn't a big buck "but" he was a BUCK, and that is what my brother wanted.
When I saw him, I told him to get his gun ready, the buck was about 25 yards from us.
I guess it took him ten minutes to shoot that buck! And he did!
We sat a few minutes then we got down and walked over to the buck that was lying on the ground.
And I guess what it was only a 'Spike Buck'.
But Lord he jumped up and down, and hollering, he ran toward me and hugged my neck, just like he had killed a monster! He was so tickled and happy that he had got one.
And I knew right then that he was going to love hunting.
And just think I got him started!
Now he is hooked for life, thanks to me he said.
And I am so proud of him.
Keep Hunting Jonah!
I love you brother
