News and information from the world of the new Ginyu Force to you! Read on for all my latest updates.
Friday, September 12, 2003: Well, here it is: The finale to "Red Ribbon Reborn," now available in the Volume Sixteen area: "Epilogue." Not a terribly original title, but it gets the job done.
And now for something completely different: Do you ever feel like you're talking to yourself? I have lately. Maybe it's the fact that the counter on the main page hasn't advanced at all in many weeks (maybe even a few months; I just started keeping track a few weeks back), but I get the impression that, with the exception of myself, no one else comes to this site any more. But I suppose it's possible that people have this page bookmarked or something and bypass the main page, so I'm making a decision: If no one e-mails me within the next week to tell me they're still visiting the site, I'm going to shut it down after next week's update. I'll upload whatever I have lying around on my hard drive that I was saving for a rainy day, clean a few things up, and leave the site around, but stop updating.
So, now is your chance. If anyone does still come here, please let me know and I'll try to keep the place running. I will still take a small break while I prepare for the next saga, but I'll continue the weekly updates. Just let me know what you want (if you're out there)!
Friday, September 5, 2003: At long last, the Red Ribbon Reborn Saga is nearly over. You'll notice I no longer call it a mini-saga, since it's longer than both the Tamoto and Yamu sagas put together. Anyway, this week we bring you "Last Gasp," the new chapter of Volume Sixteen, in which General Violet pulls an old Superman stunt.
And strangely, that's it this week! After getting pictures nearly every week for what seems like forever, you're plumb out of luck-- At the moment I have no more images for the Red Ribbon Reborn Saga. But next week, as it comes to an end, I'll have the Power Levels and Character Profiles to go with it, so you can look forward to those, anyway. See you then!
Saturday, August 30, 2003: Sorry I wasn't able to update on Friday, but by now you know how it can sometimes be. But a day late isn't bad at all as far as I'm concerned, so let's see what I've got, shall we? First off, we have the new chapter of Volume Sixteen, "Melonia Restored." Last week Blue hypnotized Bemboysta with his sinister gaze; how will she get out of this predicament?!? (here's a hint: The title should clue you in)
When you're done with the chapter, you can go to the ever-growing Volume Sixteen Images page and have a look at a pair of new pictures: Melonia restored to full power, and Mel's new Morning Star attack, which I created quite some time ago (the picture was drawn in October 2001), but never got around to implementing till now.
That's it this time, and I'll see you next week for the penultimate chapter of the Red Ribbon Reborn Saga!
Friday, August 22, 2003: Today, my friends, is a momentous day in the adventures of the new Ginyu Force. Much like on April 25th, when I brought you Shuri-Ken day in honor of the appearance of a character long in coming, I now bring forth another such warrior. As you'll recall from last week, Bembu and Oysta asked Shenron for a mental crash-course in the Fusion Dance, and he obeyed. Now, the time has come for these twin Saiyan sisters to fuse and show us what they've got! You can read about it first in "Bemboysta," the new chapter of Volume Sixteen. After that, head over to the Miscellanea page for a new behind-the-scenes article, Who or What is Bemboysta, chock full of information and even a mini-comic by yours truly!
Finally, you can go over to the Volume Sixteen Images page for three new pictures: Bemboysta vs. Commander Blue #1, Bemboysta vs. Commander Blue #2, and Melonia defeated by Commander Blue (have you noticed how this saga has inspired me to draw a lot more than any other lately?).
It's a veritable bonanza of Ginyu goodies, so please help yourselves to whatever you like, and be back here same time next week for a slightly less impressive, but nonetheless important update!
Sunday, August 17, 2003: Sorry about the lack of an update on Friday, but I couldn't access my Angelfire account for some reason. So we're a little late, but here's the new chapter of Volume Sixteen, which I've titled "Clash with Commander Blue." Britney and Gangat have fallen, and Blue's gotten his wish--he's big again! But now Melonia's on the way, so the real fight's about to start! Also, Bembu and Oysta lose their clothes again for some reason, so that's always good for some fun.
I've also put up a new image on the Volume Sixteen page, depicting Melonia, still scuffed from her battle with Violet, about to challenge Commander Blue, so go have a look!
With all that said, I'll be on my way now, and hopefully I'll be able to access my account and update this Friday. See you then!
Friday, August 8, 2003: Here we go again! I've brought you the next chapter of Volume Sixteen, called "The Wish." Blue's got the Dragonballs and he's ready to make his wish, but Britney and Gangat will try to stop him if they can!
After you read the chapter, you can have a look in the Volume Sixteen area, for yet another new picture, this one of Britney Zeno Throwing Down With Commander Blue!
Finally, I hope you all watched or taped Big-O on Sunday night, as I suggested. It certainly raised a lot of new questions, which I hope will be answered by the season's end. But even if they aren't, we can at least be treated to thirteen more installments of one of the best looking cartoons ever!
Sorry about the curt update, but I'm watching my new Deep Space Nine season four DVDs, and they're spectacular! See you next week.
Friday, August 1, 2003: Greetings to all! We've entered the final stretch of the summer, and coincidentally, we're well into the final stretch of the "Red Ribbon Reborn" saga. For those who care, about this time last year, I was writing the now-classic "Tato's Adventure" mini-saga.
But since you're likely more concerned with this year, I'll have to direct you to the new chapter of Volume Sixteen, "Restoration." Last week General Violet got a jolting dose of reality when the synthetic flesh was ripped from her arm... Now you can see just how that experience affects her.
In addition to the chapter, I've got a new picture for you in the Volume Sixteen area, titled Violet's Breakdown and depicting the very reality I was talking about above.
Boy, when this volume's done, I won't have anything left to post. I'd better get to work writing the next volume ASAP so everyone thinks I've been writing continuously, and not taking a break since I finished Volume Sixteen back in the springtime...
And before I forget... Watch Big-O II when it premieres on Cartoon Network Sunday night! I can still recall talking about it on this site when it was first run on Toonami back in 2001... Ahh, sweet nostalgia.
Sunday, July 27, 2003: Well, I'm actually going to do it. I promised something over the weekend and I'm keeping that promise. So here, without further ado, is the encapsulated summary of this year's San Diego Comic Con:
Now that I live about an hour away from home, my brother and his friend, who were coming with us, came down to my house on Tuesday, the day before we were to leave. Then, Wednesday morning, along with my friend/roommate and his girlfriend, we were off. Wednesday night was Preview Night, and as we walked the floor of the dealer's room, we found that Upper Deck was providing a demo of the upcoming Marvel Comics collectable card game, so we learned how to play. It looks promising, though there are a few things I hope they'll fix before it releases this winter.
The next few days were actually pretty uneventful. I didn't buy a thing till the last day, when I went after everything I'd been eyeing. On Friday, we witnessed the return of Mark Hamill and all his voice actor friends to the Con, talking about the film they'd been shooting there last year, "Comic Book: The Movie." Mark informed us that the DVD release will have a second disc of extras, including the panel he and his friends conducted last year. Even if the movie's bad, that will be worth the cost of the DVDs.
My brother and I watched the world premiere of the upcoming direct-to-video Batman the Animated Series film, "Mystery of the Batwoman." It wasn't the greatest animated Batman story ever, but it was great to see it anyway, since it was a new animated Batman adventure, without that "Justice League" group he seems to hang with these days. We also saw a preview of the upcoming Star Wars: Clone Wars serial coming to Cartoon Network this fall, which looks to be pretty exciting.
My friend and I played in a Star Trek Customizable Card Game tournament one day, and one evening we all went to see the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which was better than all of us expected it to be--So much so that I bought the trade paperback of the mini-series it was based on at the Con. Big-O II, the second season of one of my favorite cartoons, was aired--the first four episodes, one each day at noon--but I never got to see any of them since there were always other things going on at the same time. I guess I'll have to wait and see the episodes as they air on Cartoon Network, like everyone else.
I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting, but those, in addition the drinking at night, of course, were the highlights. As far as what I bought--Well, I didn't make as huge a haul as in the past, but I came away with five trade paperbacks--Avengers: The Korvac Saga, Daredevil: Love's Labors Lost, Transformers: Legacy of Unicron, Transformers: Space Pirates, and the afore-mentioned League of Extraordinary Gentlemen--as well as the Marvel Select Black Cat figure, the Transformers Ironhide bust, and a few assorted trinkets. Also, on the way home, at Toys R Us, I found the new Tenshinhan figure from Jakks Pacific's DBZ figure line, so that was pretty cool too.
Anyway, that's it. I sit here now, in my empty family home, getting ready to go back to my current house for work tomorrow while my family is up at Tahoe for the annual trip. Yes, work sucks hard. I'm going to try and see if I can get a few days off later this week to go join my family for a while at least, so there may not be an update this Thursday, but we'll see. And if you're looking for the regular site update for this past week, just go a few lines down and you'll find it.
See you later!
Friday, July 25, 2003: Hello, world! As promised, there was no update last week because I was at the ever-exciting San Diego Comic Con. I don't really have time to give you the usual summary right now, but I'll try to get on over the weekend with it (yeah, right), and if I can't, I'll have it next week.
But what you really want is no doubt the weekly site update, which I have right here in my bag of tricks. First, the new chapter of Volume Sixteen has arrived. After two long weeks, you'll finally get to see the battle between Melonia and General Violet! Who will win? The answer may shock you...
Secondly, I've put up three new images in the Volume Sixteen area: Two shots of Mel and Violet engaged in hand-to-hand combat (here and here), and an image of Melonia in the aftermath of Violet's Fireclaw attack. I trust you'll enjoy all of them, and I'll have even more next week. In fact, I think there may be an image for every remaining chapter of this saga, though I'm not positive about that.
Anyway, as I said, I'll have the summary of Comic Con for you soon, and until then, stay cool.
Friday, July 11, 2003: Sorry about my absence last week, but a lot was going on, such as my moving into a new house and starting... a "real job." Yes, now I have to be into work at 8:15 in the freaking a.m., like so many other poor working stiffs. But I'll get by somehow, and hopefully it won't keep me from updating any more now that I'm settled. Well, except for next week (see below).
Now, to this week's update: The new chapter of Volume Sixteen is up, titled "The Power of General Violet." Mel and Violet begin their battle, and melodrama reigns supreme in this exciting chapter! Hope you like it.
Finally, in the Volume Sixteen area, there's a new pic up, of Violet demonstrating the power of her Fireclaw. Enjoy it!
Finally, I'll be gone next week on my annual trip to the San Diego Comic Con. There'll be no update while I'm off blowing my hard-earned cash on comics and collectables, and as always I'll have an encapsulated report on the trip when I get back. See you in two weeks!
