State Of Retirement

When I retired
I grieved about it.
For months my days
were lost without it.

Then finally it
dawned on me,
my days are nice,
work-worry free!

There's food to eat,
clothes to wear,
shoes for my feet,
gas for the car.

I have breakfast in bed,
watch the morning news,
take a long hot shower,
stretch my sinews.

I choose what I wear
for comfort's sake.
I trim my own hair,
take hourly breaks:-)

There's time to read,
to write a letter,
to meet with friends
and chat a little.

Each day's a joy,
a perpetual wonder!
Stress is gone and
I can ponder
all things in a new way.
