Chapter 63~6 months later (Kristen being 7 months pregnant and Toni being 8 months)~
Kristen woke up to feel a heavy weight on her legs and soft touches on her growing belly. "What the hell?" she asked trying to sit up.
"Sorry for waking you," AJ said as he sat straddling her legs and had her shirt lifted above her stomach.
"What are you doing?"
"Kissing your stomach."
"Why?" Kristen asked with an attitude like she thought AJ was stupid.
"Because I figured that if I started sucking up to the baby now then it would be a boy. We already have one girl. I need a son. I'd go crazy living in a house of girls."
"AJ my family doesn't have boys. I can guarantee you that it's a girl and no matter how much you suck up to it you can't exactly change it's sex."
"Well my family has boys how do you think I got into this world?"
"For all I know you were in heaven and God got sick of your ass so he dropped you on this planet to torture me," Kristen said shoving AJ off her legs and getting out of bed to go to the bathroom.
"It's just the hormones, it's just the hormones," AJ kept reminding himself like he did almost every day for the past few months.
"Oh you need to get dressed," Kristen said coming out of the bathroom. "We are going shopping for baby stuff with Toni and Nick in a few hours."
"What do you mean we're going shopping?"
"Yeah, do you not understand English now all of a sudden?"
"We have a TV show special to do in like an hour."
"Excuse me?" Kristen asked confused. "What TV show special are you talking about? We have never done one together before."
"Kristen I've been telling you about it for the past month."
"Oh like I don't have enough on my mind as it is? What the hell is this special for?"
"It's going to be called 'Backstreet Families'. They are interviewing us and Toni and Nick. They want us to bring Mariah too. Our fans want to know what our baby looks like you know."
"Oh you can take that whole idea and go straight to hell with it! Mariah and this baby inside of me are going to live a normal life. I can't believe you actually agreed to publicizing our daughter on public television!" Kristen yelled.
"You agreed to it! I asked you last month and you said that it would be fine!"
"What did you drug me or something when you asked me?" Kristen asked when she heard pounding on the front door. As soon as Kristen went and opened the door Toni flew into the house crying her eyes out. "What happened?"
"Nick is such an asshole! I am divorcing his ass! I hate him so fucking much!" she screamed through tears.
"What did Nick do this time?" AJ asked going into the living room with Kristen and Toni. It seemed as if every single week Toni would come over crying threatening to divorce Nick for some stupid reason.
"First he chews my ass out about how I can't go shopping for my baby that I have to do some damn show with him then..."
"I did not chew your ass out," Nick said coming into the house looking tired as hell. "I simply told you that we had to do the show and we could go shopping another time."
"Who the hell is telling this story Nickolas Gene Carter!?! Was it you? I don't think so! So shut the hell up!"
"Forget this," Nick said going into one of the guest bedrooms and flopping down on the bed while Toni finished her side of the story.
"So, I take it everything is going just fine with you and Toni then?" AJ asked sarcastically going in the room.
"I swear to God AJ, I don't know how the hell you've done this twice. Me and Toni are never having kids again. I love her more than anything but she is acting like such a bitch. I don't know what to do with her any more. It's like nothing I do pleases her and she twists all these stories around to make me look like the bad guy to Kristen," Nick explained.
"First off, don't ever let her know you think she's acting like a bitch or that would be the end of it. Second, Kristen wasn't bad at all when she was pregnant with Mariah....until of course she went into labor. I think they are both being bitches cause they are pregnant together and know they can get away with it."
"Did you know I only got about an hour of sleep last night because of Toni?" Nick asked sitting up on the bed.
"Why?"
"She had me up all night cooking her stuff to eat that she was 'craving'. As soon as I finished cooking something she didn't want it because she was 'craving' something else. Then at four in the morning I wouldn't go to the store to get her surge so she kicked me out of the bedroom. I went to sleep in one of the other bedrooms but she came in there yelling at me that my ass had to sleep on the couch so I would be uncomfortable."
"Toni isn't even supposed to be drinking surge."
"You tell her that. Then this morning I went to go see her doctor to talk about her since I seriously think there is something wrong with her. Toni asked where I was when I got home so I told her and she blew up on me."
"Damn, Kristen isn't that bad at all. She just gets an attitude with me every single morning. But look at it this way, at least you can be mad at her for all of this instead of the thong tape," AJ said and Nick just glared at him. "Come on Nick you know that was hilarious. If that kid takes after you it will have some major problems...anyways what did the doctor say?" AJ asked trying to change the subject.
"That she was acting perfectly normal for being so far along. I'm sorry AJ but the way she is acting is not normal under any circumstances," Nick said when Kristen and Toni came into the room.
"Nick, go home and get some of Toni's stuff," Kristen said. "She's going to stay with me for a little while."
"Thank God," Nick said under his breath.
"What?" AJ asked. "Babe, her staying here really isn't a good idea. Toni you need to go home with Nick and just work things out with him, maybe be a little nicer to him too."
"You are so typical!" Kristen yelled at him. "I can't believe you are siding with that big baby!"
"Kristen I'm not acting like a big baby," Nick said sticking up for himself.
"Oh yeah? I don't see AJ pitching fits in the middle of the night when I ask him to go to the store or to make me something to eat."
"You don't make AJ make you fifty-million things to eat!"
"Don't yell at me!" Kristen yelled at him. All the noise in the house had finally woken Mariah up and she was screaming like she lost her mind. "Now look what you did!"
"Fine! I will take care of her! Toni have a nice time staying with AJ and Kristen. I'm sure AJ will make you whatever you want. Once I get Mariah I'm borrowing your phone to call the studio and cancel the show."
"Good," Kristen and Toni said in unison.
"Wait Nick, no come on, just work this thing out with Toni please," AJ said running into the hall after him.
"Why you don't want her staying here for a little while?"
"Hell no! I'm not going to have two pregnant women gang up on me!"
"Well they already ganged up on me so have fun," Nick said going into Mariah's room. He found Mariah standing up in her crib with her arms stretched out in front of her waiting for someone to come pick her up. "You're growing up to look just like your daddy," he said picking her up as she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned her head against his shoulder. She had AJ's eyes right with the long eye lashes and his dark hair, that was almost black, and was still pretty short. Nick heard noise by the bedroom door so he turned around and saw Toni standing there with tears coming out of her eyes.
"You look so cute with babies!" she said through tears as she went up to Nick. He set Mariah down and she ran up to AJ and held onto his leg (what can I say she's daddy's little girl) as Toni wrapped her arms around Nick's neck and cried into his chest. Nick looked at AJ confused as hell by the change of attitude and AJ just shrugged his shoulders since he was clueless as Kristen stood there with a smile on her face. "I love you Nicky," she cried into his chest.
"I love you too baby," he said kissing her on the cheek.
